A thread over a 100 and no one hasnt mentioned Burgers? Btw In-And -Out burger is awful. White Castle wins easily. Or Fudruckers for a preimuim burger.
Good burgers! big burgers 1/3 of a pund all the way up to a full pound burger. And the "fixins" are help yourself. Very nice concept.....gotta go , fudruckers here I come.
those white castle slyders have been used by law enforcement officers before. i believe the story goes that somebody swallowed some evidence and refused to go to the room for 3 days. one trip to white castle and 3 slyders later and heres your evidence.
NICK - I too am a "Moose" at least thats what I was dubbed in the fraternal order of Cracked Craniums.
Regarding the more important topic of burgers, I'm happy to say I have been to Fuddruckers as well as Fatburger. In my Jersey days I would occasionally visit Fud's on Tuesday nights when I made the Parsippany card show, run by the Gordon's. I liked the place, very big & clean, sort of an upscale fast food place. Plus they had tv's all around w/ sports on the monitor, a nice change of pace. I visited Fatburgers (legend had it that George Foreman owned it) at Vegas about 10 years ago, greasy little devils, hence the name. Somewhere I even have a t-shirt from there, musta shrunk in the closet cause it doesn't fit anymore. The wife wanted to throw it away several times, but I always say no...jay
Please understand that the "1%" comment was made for the purpose of effect - a response to Jim's comment where he assumed that somehow he controlled the boards and PSA along with a small band of buddies.
Anyone who knows me realizes that I am fully aware of PSA's customer base. As a collector of high-end vintage cards before I came to work here, I was one of PSA's first customers in 1991. I fully understand that it's THE COLLECTORS who control the market. Dealers sell what you want to buy. When I was collecting (before PSA became popular) it took a group of collectors like me to stand together and say,"I will not buy that card without PSA's approval." That is when it all changed.
That's why we put so much effort into the Registry - you guys make PSA go.
I think one of the other board members made a comment that Jim and I should just talk. I agree because I am at a loss.
Just wanted to set the record straight - thanks again.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure if I can really trust anything that a rival gang member says.
Perhaps Joe's statement takes it off the table, perhaps not.
The basis for me saying that half grades were once again being considered was that a dealer said that Joe told him that at the forthcoming PSA Las Vegas Invitational that half grades were on the agenda.
Based on the feedback, I thought that set collectors would want to know this.
>>I also think you are being a bit extreme in saying that 8 is the separation point between a high-grade card and garbage--especially for vintage and semi-vintage cards(1969 and earlier).>>
Oh, but look at what PSA 7's sell for from 1967 - usually well under $10, if they get bids at all.
The only .5 I'd like to see is 8.5, to know that something just missed a 9. A 6 or a 6.5...who cares?
What we really need is consistency. At times everything seems to come back a 7; at other times it seems there's a ton of 9's coming back (not just Lee Maye). I bet many collectors of 1967 can show you seeming identical condition cards and one's a 7 and one's a 9. you hate to point fault at a 9 when you're doing set registry but have one card "that's the worst looking 9 I've ever seen." << <i>Here is another example of a rumor that is way out of control because "some people" on the boards try to stir up drama for no good reason.
PSA, while we have no plans to use a .5 system in cards or tickets - we are always asking the collecting community what they do like or want - it would be irresponsible of PSA not to explore new services, projects or (in this case) changes.
We will probably ask the question "Do you want us to change to a .5 system?" every once in a while to make sure we are providing the service that collectors want.
This rumor may have started because we do plan on using a .5 system in the grading of single signed balls - a new service that we are working on right now. It seems to make sense there because we will be combining the grade of the ball and the autograph together in some fashion.
One more note: Jim, you made the comment (basically) that PSA was going to use a .5 system earlier but didn't due to the outcry by the board users.
First of all, PSA was never going to do it - all we did was ask people if THEY wanted us to. That's altogether different.
Second, I really do appreciate all the board members and the participation - the feedback is great - but Jim, honestly, don't you realize that the board probably makes up less than 1% of PSA's customer base? I do value the feedback - always - but I just want to make sure you have some understanding of the reality here. PSA is much, much bigger than the boards.
Thanks for listening everyone --things are really exciting right now at PSA. We are growing in new areas of service and continuing to enforce our brand name to the masses.
I may ask questions now and then but that doesn't mean there are plans to change anything.
If it isn't broke - don't fix it - you know how the saying goes.
Wow....I am so Pisse d off right now because of PSA's new bombshell of half point grading....How do you'll feel? It really sours the hobby for me and I may have to re-think my collection........
I dont know, the only outcry I ever heard was not to do it. So does this mean we have to resubmit all our high end 8's?. Davallilo you must have a bazillion of those. Are you going to resubmit?
I see it as just another way for PSA to make money, both off resubs, and to go against BGS for market share in modern cards. Not that I begrudge them that, really, but I can easily see non-decimal cards being devalued in the future. I don't have a huge investment in PSA cards, at least relative to some, but it's kind of lame to wait until 10 million or whatever cards have been graded. Resubbing is not an option for me, but for those who do, there are realistically 3 ways to go: up .5, down .5, or flat. Just like 1st-run grading, what you get is likely to be a lot of disappointments mixed with a few pleasant surprises. Anyways, there's sure to be a kind of land-rush on high-end whole-number cards as people anticipate getting bumps.

I think it sucks. PSA has been pure and simple, and that's what I like. The resubs will make the the pop reports almost meaningless unless PSA adjusts them every time they regrade their own stuff. I hope they do. But anyhow, I think it is unnecessary and makes them more like BGS which I don't like. It will complicate our registry sets that we've worked so hard on. I had hoped this day would never come.
