WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM "FIND"?

I'm sure this topic has been posted here before, but I was wondering what your dream "Find" would be? Mine, I would like to find a 1955 Double-die in a roll of pennies. I'm a new collector, so I'm sure there are even better "Finds" than mine out there. Please respond. Thank You, Tim

My dream would be to find myself inside the National Coin Museum at the Smithsonian, being able to look at each coin without interruption, taking digital pictures of all my favorites.... of course, that's a fantasy.

My dream find today, would be to get a roll of half dollars at my local bank and find a few silvers. A key date would be an added bonus.

There are dozens of circulated clad coins which sell for lots of money. A 1976 Ike
came out of a Washington DC cash register and sold for $80,000 last year. A Sac
dollar muled with a quarter went for over $50,000. There are several rare varieties
of quarters which routinely sell in the $1,000 range including DDO '76-D and the DDR
'71-D and '72-D. While there are regular issue coins which now sell for significant
premiums also my dream find would be a 1964 clad quarter. This would be pretty
worn by now but it would be only the second known and it's needed for my collection.

FBL stands for Full Bell Line, its a strike designation on Franklin Halves, and in 1953s, it is the rarest....

I'd love to find a 1895 mint state (not proof) morgan dollar. Now that would be SOMETHING!

  • My dream coin is hopefully realistic.

In 1989 I saw the prettiest Barber Half I've ever seen, it was an 1892 Barbr half freshly graded by the new NGC, the coin had unbroken carwheel luster on both sides and was extremly clean for the grade of 65. 've searched the country on the web for this coin and so far no luck. Who knows if its even stil in an NGC 65 holder.

I would love to cherrypick an '09-S-VDB or '31-S cent clip. I've cherried clips on other early-date Lincolns, and I know clips exist on both dates, I figure I just need to put the two together.

  • I can envision snorkling by a reef and a sparkle hits my eye. Looking closer its a HUGE diamond. Whisping away the sand I find a large box and its contents are nothing but gold coins from an old shipwreck. Next I'm on a tropical island sipping my umbrella concoction, waited on by native islanders with very skimpy grass skirts and coconut shells beckoning me for their attention.
Its a foul ball by a fair margin.

how much would you be willing to pay for one,an epitome of the deepest and frost white 1 of 10 from the very first 64 a/h die pair produced for striking, a 1st strike, flawless off of the first dies ?

and beforeel now, should an abosolute flawless monster moose icicles and winshield frost an all with perfect surfs in a pcgs pr69dcam
become available (hey, what a notion) what would you pay or what would expect a coin of this caliber to go for in a nutcase scenario ??

    eh ?

1955 DD Linc with a Plachet error to boot!

I would also love to get a 1964 clad Kennedy

But most of all, I would like to goto the bank and get half rolls and notice they havent been opened in a while and find all 90% in BU condition. Rare dates would be a boon.

In the years of collecting I have found many a 40%, but one day I found 1 complete roll of 64's and another roll with 64's and Franklins!

The last is a dream that COULD happen.

PS My 10 year old found a 1913 penny in change the other day in change,............he is hooked now!

They exist, you just have to be lucky enough to be around when they appear.

I've also seen two '55 DDOs with clips, Ira sold one on ebay around this time last year which I came this --><-- close to buying.
