Is it real? Copy? Doctored?

I e-mailed the seller for a pic of the reverse.

Cheers,

Bob

Ask for a better pic of the obverse also. You can't tell if it has been added to the surface with that far away blury pic.

I would like to see the reverse. But it "could" be ok. More pictures are definately required here before I would think about bidding.

I would say, from what I have to go on, that it is real.

either doctored or a "copy"; hence the reverse isn't shown because it has "copy" stamped on it.

hard to tell. I agree with everyone else...I'd want clearer pictures AND to see the back before bidding.

    great description and salesmanship huh?

I would vote that it is not real. I think I have seen that coin before on something from collectors mint. It is a commerative similiar to the 1879 CC's floating around. Ask if he has a COA, if he does that is a dead give away.

Checked his other auctions--has a number of different date Cameo DMPL Morgans--all with nice mirrors but not identical--has a few coins with pictures of reverse and offers a seven day return policy. He may be doing some sort of digital enhancement of the cameo effect and mirrors but I definitely don't think the coins are copies--Hope you'll post he 78 reverse photo when you get it.

Very cool, thank you for sharing this. image IMO, she looks real, but I'd have to see more pictures to be sure. The reason I say this is because I JUST purchased an 1878 7/8TF Strong PCGS MS63 with a DMPL obverse. I compared the picture with mine, and they are similar. In fact, I see similar chatter in the right field.

I would say that the coin is a real morgan coin, but it is not the quality stated. I venture cleaned and whizzed, especially after reading feedback and seeing that it is not in any holder of any kind.

ALL OF THIS GUY'S COINS LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME FROM THE PICS!

    WARNING!...LOOK AT HIS OTHER AUCTIONS.

YOU'D THINK THAT IF HE HAD ALL OF THESE MONSTER CAMEO RARE DATE MORGANS THAT HE COULD PHOTO THE DAMN THINGS FACE UP AND NOT ALL CROOKED AND IN WEIRD ASS HALF LIGHT!!!!

SOMETHING JUST AIN"T RIGHT HERE....PLUS, I"VE E-MAILED THIS SELLER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ADDITIONAL PICS AND NEVER GOTTEN ANY RESPONSE.

Bob, I guess the consensus here is to get more information before spending this much money! However, the fact that he hasn't sent additional pictures yet bothers me. I'd also like to see any additional pictures if he sends them.

Why wouldn't they be slabbed? He's got 11 of them and they all look great. Mercury maybe?

It definitely looks enticing, but personally, I don't bother with auctions with essentially no description. Heck, this person won't even offer an adjectival range of a grade, unless I missed something. Too much left unsaid for me to bother.

That seller has been bashed here on the board for awhile. Doctored photos; stay away is the strong consensus.

    And I do mean strong

Forgetting about the seller's reputation, or a questionable look to the coin, how could anyone, at any time, try to sell a coin as 7/8 TF without a photo of the Rev.????
