Reasons why I've liked being involved with the US Coins forum...

1) Folks here share their knowledge (whether a lot or a little) readily, easily, and thoughtfully - most places on the internet are not this way. Try finding this kind of attitude on all but a very few Java programming boards.
2) I get to see coins that I will never be able to afford via pictures, descriptions, historical accounts and such. I have other financial obligations that prevent me from spending 4 figures or more on any coin. I have absolutely loved looking at the pattern coins, crazy cool colored coins, cool bust and seated coins, and on and on! I ENJOY the coins folks talk about here, whether or not I am a modern collector and part-time seller.
3) I can't even begin to count the number of interesting, valuable, and useful bits of information I've learned from this board's members. I owe a lot to many here for teaching me (directly or indirectly) about their areas of interest and experience.
4) There are LOTS of people here. Many forums are much smaller, and much less active - I don't care if I have to wade through threads about humanity to read what interests or entertains me. It's always something different, it's always something interesting. Sometimes there are things that bother me here, but then again, I don't know of a single family that is not a mirrored reflection of parts of this community.
5) The dealers, collectors, and lurkers here have all been great with whom to deal - both on purchase and sale. All my experiences with members have been good. The few that have said uncomfortable things have been few and far between, and most have apologized afterwards.
6) PCGS has been a very gracious host. In addition, PCGS has been good for my knowledge and for my ability to make the few sheckels I can from the ENORMOUS amount of work I put into my micro-business for the coins with which I deal and the customers of whom I am proud to be of service.
7) There's room for all types of people here - young, old, kind, curmudgeon, anarchist and conformist.
Thanks for the time to say this. No Kool-Aid comments please. I couldn't be more sincere or in focus.
P.S. Did you folks see that truly cool coin made by an artist on the latest N.News cover? I think I'd like to own a "Roger."

Chat on the eBay coin boards some time. Or any others, for that matter. You can fall asleep (or even grow a beard, sometimes), waiting for any action.

Being on this forum, we got to know Ms. Coinboard and the cast of "Good Morning Class", and to see Bear get shot every other week!
Thanks to all!
You are one of the reasons I have enjoyed coming here. You have always been gracious in your comments, sincere and a pleasure to interact with. I always felt that you represented well a forum that is inclusive, non-elitist, and a place to be enjoyed by all people who pursue the hobby. Thanks for your post, I look forward to more to come from you.

When I first got here, this board was a catalyst for my growing re-interest in collecting. If I started collecting again today, though, I probably would have just kept the money in the bank. That said, I still am glad to have been able to meet some of the people on this board like coinguy, donheath, and zenny. Guys with enthusiasm and who enjoy coins.
