For discussions about PCGS registry sets - building them, buying them, selling them, collecting them.

dbldie55; I am not a lawyer, so my interpretation of the above line is that of a laymen. However, I am not sure that your view is correct that this board is meant as a discussion only board. We have been told that the board was started by PCGS because someone wanted to sell their registry set and they wanted a forum to do so. It seems to me that this is exactly what PCGS meant to be done on this board.

    U.S. Coin Forum
Talk about all types of U.S. coins with other collectors, dealers, and experts.

Notice that in this line from PCGS selling is not mentioned. However, I am sure that discussion about how to best sell your coins would be an acceptable topic on the U.S. Coin Forum, while actually offering coins for sale there is not.

All I am trying to point out is that offering "Registry Quality" coins on the Registry Forum makes inherent sense to me and I believe is exactly why this forum was created (along with the discussion about Registry sets, how to build them, buying them (here), selling them (here), and collecting them).

Stating that this forum is expressly for the discussion about selling (but no actual sales) is a very narrow interpretation of the purpose of this forum and I doubt that PCGS would have used the verbage "Selling" in the description if they meant what you are suggesting. They did not use the word "Selling" anywhere in the description of the U.S. Coin Forum.

As a side note I just took a look across the street at the PSA SET REGISTRY FORUM (that is sports cards) and guess what! Same thing is going on there. "Check out my Ebay auction for a TOP POP #2 Pete Rose bla bla bla bla bla". No one there seems to be at all worried about it. Again I could be wrong..........

DRG: I know you are not an attorney, but I must say - your "argument" was written better than many of the law associates briefs I had the opporunity to review while practicing law in my career before retiring. Well done image Wondercoin

this all makes me think of that movie with Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas, that one where she flashes a beaver during the police interview. Sam Kinison did a little take on that and all the ruckus raised because the whole world seemed to be wanting to rent the darn thing just to see Sharon flash for a minute or two. Sammy would just chuckle as he worked through the routine and told the audience to get a grip already, you could rent whole movies that are nothing but women flashing beavers and way, way more. it's called porn!!!!!

the connection you ask?? maybe a lame one, but whenever i look for coins at the forum, i go the BST route where i can drool over nothing but coins for sale. maybe i need to come over here more often and look for the ocassional flash.

Keets; Perfectly good analogy! What we are offering here is the "High Class" stuff that people will pay big bucks just to get a glimpse of and the Buy Sell Board is for the stuff you can find on any street corner.image

    TTT

Link to the last time this was discussed....with resolution/guidance from PCGS!

Embedded in this the above thread is a link to the last time before that thread that this issue was discussed...

I also noticed that a few individuals seem to have switched sides since the last time this was debated...not that there's anything wrong with that.
