Dream on!
If memory serves, I think I saved up in junior high and bought a tradedollar that was a little bit over one hundred dollars. I wish I could remember anything about the coin. What I do remember is that I sold it back to the guy I bought it from (one of my junior high teachers) for $240 when my priorities changed from coins to buying my first car.
I also remember buying my first multi-thousand dollar coin. I would have been in my middle thirties. An experience I doubt which will ever be repeated.

my first $1000 coins were a proof 1884 morgan dollar and a VF 1799 dollar, both at 33 years old.
I don't have any $10k coins or higher, but at 34, got a $5K+ 1812 half eagle.
the short list for my first $10K coin includes a pre-1804 eagle or half eagle, or a small eagle dollar.
will probably never own a single coin that costs more than $50K, but I can dream

I now own 13 coins at 49 yrs. old--all $1000.00 to $4000.00
Keep the faith, your time will come!

My most expensive purchase was $64 but i have gotten offers as high as $220 for that coin so i guess it would be considered my first $100 coin bought at age 18
12, my grandmother gave me an XF trade dollar that trends for about that amount
$1000?
17 - I was buying and selling coins acting like a dealer. I bought a 1913-S Buff for $400 and sold it for $1000 at a coin show
$10,000?
34 - an MS63 1873CC trade dollar, the second coin in the Legend Collection
$50,000?
35 - the Eliasberg 1876-CC trade dollar
$100,000?
35 - the MS68 1875 trade dollar from the NYC ANA auction
$250,000?
More?
37 - the Eliasberg 1885 trade dollar from Parrino via Legend & John Albanese
The most?
41 - the Hawaii 5-O 1913 Liberty Head nickel!!!
Havn't cracked the $1000 mark yet and probably won't for several years.
