Way Off topic !!

ahah Posts: 161 ✭✭✭
I joined this forum to hear and talk about US COINS.

There are many threads in this forum that should be in the OPEN FORUM,
or perhaps there should be a CRYING FORUM for those that have beefs
with individuals with opinions that differ from theirs.

I therefore quit this forum in search more productive ventures.

There was a lot of good information that I picked up but, to much BS.

Sorry to see you go. A few thoughts:

    1. If OT is really important to you, you should have posted this in the open forum.
    2. Every forum is different, and I hope you can find another one on the internet where you can learn more about US coins.

As long as the subject is in the title of the thread, then off topic posts don't bother me. If I don't want to read about a subject, I simply skip it. Woah!

I've never understood why people feel the need to make some sort of grand exit from here. If you don't like the BS on here, skip it like I do. I myself get tired of seeing all the name calling and stuff like that but I also tire just as much at getting on and seeing 15 posts about franklin halves. I wade through and read what I want to read. If I ultimately decide to never return I'll disappear like a fart in the wind.

Your post was as on topic as many here! Don't be so hard on yourself.image

I too wonder why announce you are leaving. Do you do that in other locations too? I have yet to see someone at the supermarket shout out that they couldn't find what they were shopping for, therefore they were leaving!!

Seems odd to do that here!

Especially with just over 120 posts. We didn't even know him.

  • I think you'll find the same type thing wherever so many people get together to discuss any topic. We all come here because we have some type of interest in coins. Sometimes people get a little off course, and the Forum members guide them back. Sometimes we just want to enjoy a laugh or two. This in no way takes away from the wonderful education you can get here about many subjects dealing with coins.

So read what you want to, skip what you don't.....If you choose to get involved in a conversation know before hand that some will agree with you, and others may not.

I find something to laugh about and something to learn everday that I have been coming here, and I for one hopes that never changes. (Board "monitors" or not.)*

Bullioncoins, that message is about a year old.

I don't know about assigning monitors to the boards from the user base, that would just be putting another loonie at the steering wheel. What's the use.

I didn't notice that when I read it, thanks for pointing that out. However I can say that I check that forum once a week or so, and that thread was not posted anytime I had looked before.

(I came on board last month.)

Maybe they(PCGS) are trying to send a message?

    AH:

I searched the last 100 posts that you have made or responded to. I would say that less than 10% of those were true numismatic threads, and your "numismatic responses" were all similar to "nice coin."

Several of those said "OT" right in the header, and yet you still responded.

Before you throw rocks, you might look at your contributions to the OT material vs. numismatic material.

You should probably skip the threads you are now deeming objectionable, and stick to the threads that are imporant to you.

Are you sure you are not Alan Hagar???

I too have a problem understanding the 'drama queen' method of storming out on a forum. If you don't like it, leave. Not trying to be rude, its just the way it is. (I like the grocery store analogy Lanlord image )

Personally I think people who do this are hoping to get inundated with the typical "No, please don't go..." "But what will we do without you..." "But I can't go on without knowing your there..." "Oh what a sad day..." responses.

I have seen it in other types of forums by the way, so its not just here.

I've never understood why people feel the need to make some sort of grand exit from here

Perhaps we should Carol to create an "I'm Leaving" forum where people can post their exit flame.

For those rare people of knowledge, insight, wisdom and class, we have and we will

ask them and plead with them to stay for the good of the Forum. I fear that this is not

such an indevidual, and who, by the lack of sufficient positive input, has not earned the right to such

    heart felt accolades.

In "Chicago" -- the show, not the movie -- all the characters ask for their exit music just before they stomp off stage.

Cue up the exit music. . . .
