Well, after lurking around here for a couple of months I finally took the plunge and joined up!
I feel like I already know some of you pretty well from listening in on your conversations, and want to thank you all for your contributions to this forum, especially those who steer it back to "things numismatic" when the topics stray off topic and "flaming trolls" becomes the sport du jour (am I using the lingo correctly? Wow, some of the pics of coins you guys post blow my mind! Nice stuff!
Anyway I'm a 35 year old married man, have been collecting since I was 10, with the usual breaks during high school and college when my money went towards gas, girls, and greasy grub instead of gold and grading fees Started with well worn type coins and slider Morgan dollars, cashed in all my junk silver and BU rolls in 1979, and pretty much missed out on the great bull markets of '85 and '89.
Returned to serious collecting and investing around 1999 by cashing in some stock options, have just completed my 19th-20th century US Type Set in AU and better, including the optional gold page (Love that Dansco 7070 album like life itself!) and am selectively upgrading that set and picking up nice draped and capped bust dimes, quarters, and half dollars when I can find them. Also currently looking for a classic head quarter eagle in nice EF or better and a VF+ heraldic eagle dollar, having a really tough time finding a nice piece at a good price.
Hope that's enough of an introduction, looking forward to more coin chat, happy 2003 all,
Baley

First of all, he knows an awful lot about using the little smiley face things to be a first timer. Plus hes got a quote down below the dotted line which is, again, an indication of considerable posting sophisitication.
Then there was that part about being married and all that indicated maybe hes normal and well-adjusted. Not likely for some guy in a chatroom.
And the last thing which really tossed me for a loop was that part where hes being nice and all and not slamming anyone.
I think this guy Baleys trouble.
Myddleton - you are obviously a pretty good grader with an eye like that.

Welcome aboard. Hope you have read the rules of the BB. 1. Sniping although an inevitable part of auction buying, is not tolerated or condoned by the officers or members of this board. 2. Anything else we want you to know, we will tell you in ample time for compliance!
Have fun and share your knowledge!
