I thought this would be an interesting topic. Especially as my thumbs are a little sore from pushing nickels into a whitman folder (@#$ hard sometimes!) for a 1938-1995 set. So what are your favorite sets to put together like this? I have two, actually. A set, 85% complete, of cents from 1909-1975 and a now 80% complete set of nickels from 1938-1995. Almost all of these from both are from circulation. I have other sets, but these have been my favorites.

JUST SAY NO TO WANNABES! They lurk and prey on unwitting collectors in chatrooms!
As for one of my favorite sets, but not actually found (and thus had a face value cost) would be my Large Cents. Out of the 96 coins, I am only missing 5.

one I've been working on since 1997- - clad quarters from circulation. I still
don't have all the regular issues in VF or better! I have almost all of the 30
odd varieties except for a couple highly esoteric ones. Some of the ones I've
found are of extremely limited production.

BTW, I already have a start on set #9. I will be looking for nice examples at the FUN show and will move any upgraded coins to set #9.

My Morgan set is still my favorite set because it changes with my moods. Sometimes it's circulated, sometimes it's DMPL, sometimes it's toned, slabbed & raw.

Believe it or not--I received a 1939-D Jefferson from a change machine about 10 years back. I was shocked, and I think it would grade MS63! I still have it and I am thinking of sending it in just for kicks.

As for what I have finished - Lincoln cents - started December 25, 1959 finished the full of 1979. Not my favorite set, but still a classic.
I also put together a set of $2.50 Indian gold pieces. At the time the set was very choice AU, but today I'm afraid that some of the coins would get into low end MS holders.

By the time I got to high school, i ended up selling off my collection to by car stereo stuff and other junk.
Kind of wish I had them back, not because they have gone up in value, but because it was my first real coin collection.
The thing is, I could easily purchase an xf set today, but it would not be the same.

Am still working on Buffalos, IHCs, and four to go on a set of Lincolns from 1909 to present.
I still have all of these and am working on upgrading and higher grade sets of all.

I also put together an almost complete set of Jeffersons from circulation. It was only missing the 50-D and a few of the war nickels. I've even pulled the 39-D (actually two of them) from circulation.
