It's an MS-60, but for ANACS it could be MS-61 or 62. The has lots of little tic marks that make it an MS-60 for the "real grade."

Well when I sent it to ANACS a few years ago I thought it would get a 61-62 but it only got a grade of MS60. Not a huge price difference from 60 to 62 but I still think it could get a 62. During this time I had several coins graded by ANACS and most the more expensive ones have been regraded by PCGS or NGC and most coming back a point higher than ANACS graded them. mike
I sold an ANACS MS-62 that blew this coin out of the water. ANACS can be very conservative sometimes. I would have tried the crack out, but I sold it to a collector for strong 62 money so we were both happy.

We are all grading the usual nice photo that darktone scans which should make the grading process easier but unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Gold in the AU58 to MS61 range is a challenge and consistency is a problem. I'm not surprised that the coin was graded MS60 by ANACs. Its just an issue with being consistent and this coin came out on the short end.

Frankly I'm happy for you Mike, but not satisfied at all, as it is an MS-61, and I agree with the few that guessed 61!! (I wouldv'e posted 61 too but just signed on) That observation however gives me more hope that at least many more collectors are beginning to be able to tell the true grades from the overgraded plastic! Even MS61 is being generous, PCGS would have graded it MS-61, most likely, and that is why they will always command premiums when price is an issue.
Thanks guy's. I just wonder if it would be worth sending in a few more of these ANACS coins grade from this period. I have several more( maybe 30) ANACS $5 liberty's graded in lower ms grades all are common dates. Is it really worth the slabbing cost to get some of these bumped from ms60 to 61 or 62? There are no 63's in the lot. mike

I'll say MS-63. She's got some scuffs on her cheek and a slash over her eye
