There are so many talented people on the forum that to select a single person is unfair. The whole forum should be rewarded. But if I have to select a single person then my vote goes for Michael also. Coins are his life! His enthusiasm is contageous. His excitement is so great that he occasionally misspells a word. His posts are always coin oriented and designed to point out qualities in individual coins and a philosophy of collecting that is constuctive and practical. He has no hidden agendas and is always open to the thoughts and ideas of others and happy to express his honest thoughts on a coin or collecting. Michael is special.
how bout a vote for Pushkin. He sponsored a great contest that I'm sure the likes of Airplanenut and Klector Kid appreciated. The next generation is where it's at!
Clankeye and Michael as co-forum members of the year.
Honorable/distinguished mention goes to the board members as a group, who make this such an interesting, informative, entertaining, thought-provoking, crazy, fun, unique place.
Perhaps there should be a few categories of achievers and "Best Forum Dealer" could be one of them, "Best Poster Child"(young person), "Best Direct and To The Point" and Overall Best Forum Person.
How about one for "Best Poster Young Adult"? I nominate Cameron Kiefer.
Michael gets my vote for Best Pure Numismatist, and Clankeye for Best Numismatic Humorist.

Well, it's taken you almost all year and approximately a zillion discussions/arguments to get to this point but I'm gald to see that you've finally come around in support of slabbing ("certified").
Do you suggest PCGS or NGC certification of the winner(s)? What if it turns out a body bag is involved?
I would be insincere if I did not say that I was extremely flattered by the mention of me in this thread. But, I also must say that I think I would be delusional if I really believed I was deserving of such an honor. I am tempted to gush like Sally Field "You like me! You really like me!" but look at the years of ridicule it got her....
One thing about this forum that I find truly OUTSTANDING, is the diversity. The incredible mix of personalities that make up this little community. I just don't believe it is possible to single one person out as having made the best contribution. One thing that makes parodying the forum such a pleasure, is the quirky, funny, serious, surreal, ludicrous, poignant, carnival that is the combined membership.
I genuinely like the people here. Very much. This forum has made my life better, on many levels. Yes... an internet bulletin board. Imagine that. From the "heavyweight" numismatists, to the ones who make me smile.... I thank you all.
I don`t know if you where nosing around the boards earlier this year. But I think the one that deserves that title is coincobbler. No I`m not that guy at all.
I hope this Butthead of the year thing goes any farther then this post; It just reminded me of that guy. Remember " What is a dip? You ".
Special Award for the Most Distracting Posts goes to LanLord. Each time I see his bigger that life pic on his posts, it is hard for me to keep my mind on the coins

dagnab it! tripped up by the plastic again!!!
i propose the voting results be certified by the PNG....
I am really tempted to say Harold and Deb. Although not official members they certainly contributed to the enjoyment. I am also tempted to select that non-descript group know as Trolls since they seem to know how to bring out the worst in us.
In reality I choose Russ and Clankeye as co-nominees. Kind of like Marris and Mantle; both great and neither should loose.
i love it and for mme i wsant to thank everyone on here who voted for mee!!
I ALSO VOTE FOR MEE..........................LOL
that is very nice of yoiu to say
but on a serious note i really vote for everyone on here and i wish we all could get together and have a[party!! sponsored by pcgs and each of us could still chip in something and also have on site pcgsgrading forthe party wherer we have a dinner and speakers and then a talk session and havew a nice meal and all coins are submitted brfore the start of the party and the coins are returned grsaded right bewfore you leave the party
I have thought a lot about this question for a day now and have come to the conclusion that choosing a forum member of the year is impossible for me. It is kind of like choosing the best volume within a set of encyclopedias, or having a family reunion and choosing who is the best family member.
Subdividing into categories would be a unique poll which could inflate and/or deflate a few egos , but would be fun nevertheless.
You cant just vote for member of the year! That's too easy. You gotta nominate someone first, then your "party" has to accept him or her then they have to spend TONS of money calling other people unqualified, bring up a couple of vague racial remarks or remind us all that their opponent ran off a bridge drunk and killed an unknown but beautiful girl who shouldn't have been with them. You can't have Jefferson fans voting on Kennedy nominees. Maybe moderns versus that old stuff. Russ would probably win anyway, since he has posted almost 6000 times in less than a year, you know like all those signs that pop up everywhere during an election? Well anyway, I don't think I'm qualified to vote in this one, looks like my vote for George W is gonna get us in a very unpopular war. Wouldn't want to start one here, too. Well ok .... Russ with Lucy as a vice member of the year.

No doubt many members can lay claim to the title in various categories.
Thanks to all.
Joe.

I doubt I could pick a single member. Clevegreg is pretty darn high on my list, though.
Edited to add a nod in Russ' direction- after all, it's his homage thread.
