Nice War Nicklel- nice color. If you really did find it in pocket change what a find. Looks like some little boy got into Daddy's collection to buy a stick of gum.
The Appalachian Hoard name refers to the area of the country that these coins were supposed to have come from. As I understand it, there was approximately one roll saved from each date/mint combination of the War nickels and, over time, many of the coins in this hoard have toned in some fabulous shades and colors. They were supposed to have been sold to a single dealer, I believe, and this dealer had them slabbed and is now selling them through a major dealer of toned coins. Apparently, they were not offered for sale all at one time, the logic being that the market (and prices realized) could have been depressed by the bulk release of all the coins. I couch my phrases here with "apparently" and "supposed" because I do not have first-hand knowledge that any of the above is 100% correct, I am just relating what I have been told by the dealer who is selling these coins.
