Earliest known PCGS post discovered

The formatting of a vacant server's hard drive was abrubtly halted today when artifacts of what appears to be the earliest known PCGS forum post was discovered. The meaning of the thread is still not clear, but experts are already re-formulating their timeline as to when numismatists started asking provocative questions. The appearance of a "pop up window" startled everyone who witnessed the first clicking of this post. Link.

In the forensic autopsy done on this thread, it was discovered that the initiator of the thread actually had expired from acute anticipation before the second poster responded almost a month and a half later.
When one thinks of the challenges faced by these primitive pioneers of yore, it points out how much we take for granted the speed of information we ourselves now enjoy.

Shylock, I'm starting to wonder about you. Is this what you do in your free time?

The Funniest Thread
are many posters who are gone or lurking. (Looks like some name changes too
maybe). Seems to be very little bashing with free discourse. I'll be back.
How come redcent never commented on the thread he started?

How about all the posts from David Dinkins AKA lovdbyGod7
You've been wondering about me for a long time BidD5, who are you kidding?
The Scottieo episide also goes down as the most bizarre thread.
Like this one?
What's he up to these days? Is he still working on his PhD?

I'd guess he is preaching to his fellow inmates.

I still have to laugh at that one! Greg's response was classic!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
was ZorkETM our first superTroll?

When you think of it, we've got quite a collection of folklore on this Board since it started.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I was there in 1997-1998 as oreville along with Luke, earlycopper, amwldcoin, 59cent and others. Was there anyone else there that I forgot? I actually saved a page of the old chat room of Collectors Universe but it is in a computer that the hard drive barely works anymore. It was a Packard Bell Pentium (I).
Earlycopper is a real gentleman as well, although I never met him!

Note the older dated postings did not edit the words as they now do.
They are utterly fascinating. There are many conditions which prevail now which
were started back on those boards. It is incredible how many of these early
posters are gone now. I wonder how many never even registered for the new
boards and only lurk on rare occasion, if ever, now. With the huge number of re-
gistered users, it would seem that there must be considerable numbers of lurkers.
I never before supported the creation of a separate forum for moderns and classics
because it would be a loss for all of us since some will not cross out of his own
specialities. But this might go a long way to getting some of these people back.
There was one feature that was particularly helpful on the old board. That was
the ability to see the first 30 or 40 words of the thread without actually pulling it
up. You could read a few threads while waiting for the next page to load.
Is the nostalgia giving you goosebumps yet?

It would be great to see the list.

No. I only had enough money to join either Nostalgia Collectors Club or Pessimists United. Guess which one I picked?

Can't find it.

The old boards died back in the late spring/ early summer amid very little fanfare.
They were not accessible on the websites which archive other sites either. Apparently
they are completely gone and were before these recent repairs.

I wish I'd been there and would have been had I known about them.
It's strange to see a post you made 2 years ago come back to the top, I did a double-take on this one. Too bad they scrapped the old forum posts. Cyberspace isn't the best place to store fond memories.
