That was quite a story Braddick! I can believe that you're not CoinDr, but now I'm starting to think you may be Deb! image

    Ok, I'll come clean too.
After I bid on the 5 CoinDr/Braddick auctions, which I knew Braddick set them up because they were just like his own, I used the "ask seller a question" feature and sent CoinDr a message saying "Hi Pat!"
That's when my bids started being canceled. I didn't mean to panic CoinDr/Braddick and I said darn that Braddick because I really wanted that green nickel.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Talk about going down in flames! First Mike Defalco (Coingame 2000) and now the (formerly) beloved Braddick, both in the same weekend. And, we're supposed to believe that a Coin Doctor person really exists outside of Braddick's active and apparently overstimulated imagination? Puleazze!
  • Awww come on. I don't think braddick should go down in flames. I think it was kinda funny. But then again, he really did insult some people.
  • OK,

    The flame thrower is off.
From now on I'm not going to care about trolls or what they say.
I'm just going to ignore them and concentrate on the one thing that I came here to the forums for in the first place...COINS.

Sorry I can't hold back on this one. This whole thing has been like a soap opera and now a very popular member of this board states all this and says he won't respond to anybody except by PM. If this had been a new person to the board or even myself this kind of nonsense would not be tolerated. Maybe coindr is not the person that started this thread, but for him to let all this nonsense go this far is a mock to everyone on this board as far as I'm concerned.

But I'm sure all will be forgiven. But as far as I'm concerned this was the most childish and disrespectful thing that a popular member could do by letting it go this far and not telling fellow board members that like and respect him what was going on. Now flame me if you will, and that will take the attention away from a matter that in my opinion was a mockery of this board that I have gotten to love and respect.

stman, I'm still not sure I understand all of what happened and what the facts are, so I haven't commented. But, you will not be flamed by me for your post and I respect you for your candidness and courage in a potentially uncomfortable situation.
  • stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
I may not know all the facts either as I didn't waste all my time reading into the whole thing. But I read enough to know I don't like the whole idea of what happened. This is my opinion and how I feel and will stand by it. Now I feel better.image

OK so maybe he overstepped his alter-ego a little. image I still respect Braddick and I like his PO1 coins, and would feel a loss if he departs. I have learned more about AT coins and what to look out for this past weekend than anytime before mostly due to his CoinDr threads and the responses from knowledgable members, so there was definately something positive that came out of this, at least for me.
  • Just like a big ol' largemouth bass rising to attack a topwater lure, some Members rose to slash, bash, srike and attack the so-called "troll". The name calling and personal attacks were so very predictable! You could see it coming from a mile away. Some members made absolute FOOLS of themselves and have been doing so for a very long time. Unfortunately, now that they, and their attitudes, have been exposed as though they are the emperor with no clothes, they still want to lay the blame at the feet of someone else, rather then their own.

In my opinion those attacking Members should take some time for reflection upon their own attitudes, rather than now attacking Braddick.
  • It's one thing to joke and satirize the hobby, collectors in general, etc. but his attack on a few people was very personal and mean spirited. That was not "prankish". He deliberately set out to hurt and humiliate a few on this forum.

I do not know these people personally however they were Braddick prey. Reread his comments about Russ, Braddick is one sick and lonely man.

One thing for absolute certain: This forum wouldn't be even half of what it is without Braddick. Who starts 90% of the interesting threads here? He does. Some may feel he crossed the line here, but you gotta take the bad with the good. Even if you abhor the method, it was still good thinking material.

Pat: I know exactly where you are welcome if you feel like it.

DCAMFranklin, I think that under the circumstances, you are completely out of line in disparaging posters for their comments.

    You actually said

<< <i>Some members made absolute FOOLS of themselves and have been doing so for a very long time. Unfortunately, now that they, and their attitudes, have been exposed as though they are the emperor with no clothes, they still want to lay the blame at the feet of someone else, rather then their own. >>

Your remarks are absurd. Members made fools of themselves because they were possibly (I say possibly because I don't claim to know all the facts as you certainly must, to speak the way you do) set up in a prank/game by a fellow board member in whom they had faith and trust? The board members are the emperor with no clothes? You have it backwards - the CoinDr has no clothes. Lastly, the blame is being placed where it belongs, by all, it seems, but you.

I don't like to engage in verbal battles, so flame away at me all you want. I will let you have the last word and will not respond to anything else you say on this subject - you "win".

I feel awkward chiming in on this issue considering what I did recently...

I don't remember the recent initial thread by CoinDr, but I didn't think it was that bad. Yes, he did get into it with a board member. But, if memory serves, he was also viciously attacked by lots of board members as well. I remember that the thread about coin doctoring and A/T was done with a lot of attitude. But, aside from that, the topic was well worth airing here. It's an important issue for many of us. Yet, many attacked him simply due to the subject matter. It's like attacking someone for wanting to discuss the merits of stem cell research.

And now, many are still attacking him. Even those he (whether it's CoinDr or Braddick) didn't aggreive in the earlier posts. Is it remotely possible for the lot of you attack dogs to take a tranquilizer? Sheesh.

Coin doctoring is a serious issue. We (now) know that. Pat spent much time and effort trying to alert us to this potentially irreversable problem. He previously provided detailed posts describing a coin doctors practices, but his message was not taken very seriously.
I think the focus now, should remain on the issue of coin doctoring, and not how the message was delivered.
Personally, I am not insulted by the means of delivery. It really got a point across that otherwise has been missed or ignored, embarassing, or just hard to accept.
I like your teaching style, Pat, and I appreciate your efforts. All in all, I found it quite entertaining. image

    Mark,

Where was the prank? This is an honest question, because I could easily have missed it with all the posts flying around recently. But, I truly do recall seeing any evidence of a prank.

  • Mark, you are in the clear minority.

I'll not flame you. I can agree to disagree. It is the intolerent Members that want to slash, attack, call names and "flame" as you call it. I notice they are now avoiding these threads like the plague.
  • I'm sure as hell not avoiding this thread. I think if anything, this shows that certain people need to get out from in front of the keyboard. Maybe take a shower, kiss their wife, take in a movie, or read a book, and quite living their social life in here.

Now that I think about it I feel used and deceived by Braddick, like I was played with like a toy.

As ModMan he tried to discourage us from buying PCGS graded Modern coins while as Braddick he was buying all he could to make Registry Sets and constantly sucking up to Wondercoin. If I even remotely disagreed with Wondercoin, Braddick was the first one to jump in and accuse me of personal attacks. Then back himself with ModMan.

Not to mention the efforts Braddick/ModMan made to disrupt my efforts to get Proof, Mint, & Year Sets implemented into the Registry around the time David Hall was taking surveys. As a result I got disgusted with it and deleted 5 other sets & dumped them on eBay and moved my Classics to the NGC Set Registry. Gee, thanks Braddick, I only found out you were ModMan recently or I would have flamed you a long time ago.

As CoinDr he caused turmoil on the boards to discourage us from buying toned coins but as Braddick he was buying all he could on eBay. But he was the biggest suckup to Anaconda the monster dealer.

He talks bad about ACG but as Peac*ockcoins his very first feedback was from AHCollectables.

And don't forget as Officer Braddick San Diego County Sheriff Deputy he was parked behind the Dunkin Doughnuts in his squad car posting on this board about how collecting coins gave him a high like pot & angel dust and compared PCGS to a drug dealer.

Hmm..sounds like he was trying to use the boards for his own amusement & twisted purposes and we're supposed to think it's funny. He has a twisted mind and I'm glad I live far far away from California where this guy runs around with a gun & badge in his own fantasy world. He has no credibility left with me.

Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Since there are some in this thread attempting to engage in revisionist history, (aka; lying), and trying to shift blame on to those members who responded negatively to this troll, I will direct your attention to this thread, in which the troll drew first blood.

Prior to that, I called him no names, nor did I level any attack. After that, the troll got precisely what he deserved from me. I will never take crap from cowards who hide behind their keyboards and take pot shots with one hand, while getting their rocks off with the other.
