A bodybag day!

First of all, I'd like to start by saying I use 4 different services. I use PCGS for types, NGC for modern, ICG for my Mercury set and SEGS for varities and low dollar coins.
.
I'm one of these people who buy the coin and not the holder. Regardless of the holder, if the coin has exceptional eye appeal and is graded (in my opinion) correctly, I'll purchase it.
.
Today, I received 5 coins back from NGC. Of the 5, 1 was returned as AT. It came out of a PCGS holder. It is definitely not AT, and, I guess NGC is being tough on toned coins at the present.
.
Many of you know I collect BU Mercury dimes. My Mercs are all in ICG holders, because I like the design of the holder. Well, out of 5 cracked and sent in, this is how they fared:
#1. 1940 D originally in an NGC MS67FB holder. ICG graded MS65. They were tough on this one and the second 1940 NGC Merc which they have downgraded! This coin is gorgeous and I can't see a 65!
#2. 1943 originally in an ANACS MS67 holder. ICG bodybagged for altered surfaces.
#3. 1943 originally in a PCGS 67 holder. ICG holdered as MS67.
#4. 1943 raw. Toned. ICG bagged for AT.
#5. 1945 Micro S originally in a PCGS MS66 holder. ICG holdered as MS66.
Of the 3 micro s coins I bought off the boards and Ebay, I felt only this one had an actual shot at 66.
.
I guess I'm just venting!

It's really hard to get decent money for coins in their holders because of all the overgraded stuff in ICG that is out there. If you like the coin and it's dirt cheap, OK. Otherwise I'd stay away.
Why volunteer to put your coins in holder that has no market traction at all?
The ICG holder looks better to him with his mercs in it- so he uses their holder. He doesn't care about the #1 registry and won't be selling the coins, so he is doing what is most appealing to him- like if someone used an airtight vs. a coinworld slab because they thought one was more aesthetically pleasing...
As for my ASE... well...
<< <i>I would guess you found some overgraded coins in PCGS holders! >>
Is that how it is now? It's impossible for one to believe that ICG actually does know how to grade a coin, therefore the PCGS one must have been overgraded to begin with. Sheesh.....
I'm shocked, that would be a really tough day for you.The king of crackout.
