  • Yep, cleaned and beginning to retone (not the best either).

Yep, cleaned and beginning to retone (but I don't dislike it. Not too awful in my book, for a raw circ. coin.).

  • cleaned a while back. See, this is what i'm talking about with my barber set i want to start. But it gives me a good perspective on what it will look like down the road.

Wish we knew how long ago it had been cleaned.

If it is cheap enough, it has pretty good detail and would make a great hole filler in an album or something... it is starting to retone and isn't too bad looking.

You buy it as an au, xf, vf or something in between?

No just thought about buying it as it's pretty cheap. I always wanted a ray's and arrows half.
  • Love those arrows and rays also. If the coin is cheap enough I would buy it. Sometimes It's hard to find a truly origional coin. So many have been cleaned .

It's cheap because it isn't worth much. There are VERY few bargains in coin collecting. I see lots of ugly coins. Be patient, spend a bit more and buy a nice coin for the grade. A problem coin will always be a problem coin and this is one of them.

Sometimes I wait years until I find an acceptable coin for my type set.

I can't prove it's cleaned from the scan. I like to see lots of hairlines or white dull surfaces before I say cleaned.
The periph tone may be from an album but it does look like dip retone.
The purple in the left obv field was probably heavy black that somebody tried to dip of several years ago giving the coin the overall goldish color.
The shiny does makes me think cleaned however.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
