Just got in an AMAZINGLY clean Morgan - 1884CC (***Large file 150k pic)

And it is breathtaking.

No marks on any device on the reverse, 2 small marks in the field - but THAT's ALL. It is SOOO clear and clean and the mirror effect is awesome! I could shave in it!

The obverse has 3 or 4 small contact marks in the field and there are a couple of bag marks on the face - just light contact spots - but that's all.

The MS-64 I have on e-bay right now is NOWHERE NEAR the clarity and the cleaness of this one! It is amazing.

Okay - okay - I'm drooling now....sorry...I'll stop.

BUT WOW! I'll get a pic up later on this afternoon - it is SO awesome.

The only thing? It's in a GSA holder. Now - do I really wanna get this one craked out and slabbed or not??? Opinions? Pic later imageimageimage

Can't wait to see the picimage. Quite a few of the GSA Morgans are in GEM conditions, but it seems like most have been cherrypicked.

WOW! That sure is a pretty coin. I really am not good at grading, but if you submitted it, I would guess... MS65PL... or MS65DMPL... might even make a 66. I really can't tell exactly how far the mirrors go from the scan. Looks DMPL to me. Sure is a nice coin though. I would only submit it if you want to sell it... you can submit a coin anytime you want... you can't get it put back in the GSA holder once you take it out. WOW! Great coin!!

The breaks on the eagle may limit a DMPL... but DANG, you got a NICE COIN!!!!

If it is only PL... it is PQ+.

Looks nice! Pic a little fuzzy but I'd say a 65pl.....and that's probably on the conservative side.image

I personally like it in the GSA holders!

Looks PL at the very least. And I'd say it's got a shot at 65 PL.

66? DMPL? I don't know. I for one don't believe that any coin is higher than 65 until I see it in plastic. (PCGS, NGC, or at least ANACS plastic, that is- not GSA plastic).

4real, that is almost certainly worth a submission, though. You could get a happy surprise. Don't count your chickens until they're hatched, but you could come out very well on that one.

  • A beautiful coin, no matter what the grade. The mirrors are very nice!
  • P.S. IMHO, the GSA holder is unique and cannot be re-attributed (so they say). The coin speaks for itself, no matter the grade.

If it was a 65 PL, it wouldn't be in a GSA holder, believe me. I have one 84 CC in 5 and another in 6; I know what this coin looks like in these grades. The image is fuzzy, but it DOES seem PL to me.

You can't see the severity of the marks on the cheek and jawbone. But they definitely exist and I'll bet if you saw the coin up close in personal, these marks would be eye-catching and therefore grade limiting.

The mirrors DO look a tad hazy, but it IS a nice coin, particularly for a GSA Morgan (bear in mind, most GSA Morgans one might encounter are 4 sale, so I am not saying there aren't nice GSAs in peoples' collections). Definitely looks like today's 65 at a minimum, unless the one vertical mark on the cheek/jaw is actually a gouge/scratch.

Yeah its pretty clean. Looks 64/65 to me. The reason I say maybe 64 is because of the scratches on the rev the arrows point at.
