I like the 1883 25c graded by PCGS at pr67 it has the highest grade so therefore to me it is the best of the lot and the colors are great. I would trade the "PISSING MINUTE MAN" set for that coin. I am sure your reply would be another ICBM raining down upon my KINGCOIN KINGDOM. Your coin is fabulous though.
Well, since you spoke well of the coin and actually participated somewhat instead of being a complete troll, KinCoin, we'll delay the missile launch for now.
Would you trade the OSWALD KENNEDY, too? Heehee. Email Legend and see if they'll accept a trade.
Pinnacle took my references and agreed to ship the half to me on approval, since it will still be a few days before the funds are available (I deposited them today). By the time they ship me the coin to look at in person, I will have shipped the gold I sold to its new owner, and hopefully he will release me to spend his funds when he sees the gold (which is pending his approval).
I have a hunch that the gold buyer will be happy with my old Registry set, and I will be happy with the Pinnacle coin. At this point, we have to wait for all the coins (mine and Pinnacle's) to reach their destinations. Then, if my buyer likes the gold, and I like the Pinnacle half, I ship a check and my trade-in to Pinnacle for their approval.
Confused yet? It sounds much more convoluted than it really is.
After thinking about this for a long time, I have decided what I would do. I would pass on all three, none of them move you in the direction of any goal you have set. Yes all three are monsters, if you are going to collect monsters without any plan, just buying what you like when you find it, then I think the half would give you the most satisfaction. I guess a lot hangs on why you are considering this purchase. Are you buying for the joy on ownership? Do you hope to profit from this deal several months/years from now?

The adrenalin burn must be killing you and I'm think I can see your trigger finger starting to spasm as the time to take the shot approaches. This is worse than the contingency sale and contingency buy on my last house transaction.
Boy I am looking at my pockets. My daughter, a high school senior, just announced that she does not want to go to a State College and only the best of the best. It just killed a potential purchase I had going myself.
I may yet have to sell some coins to finance the near $40,000 per year cost I see this coming year.
Donations and scholorships gladly accepted. Especially in silver coins!
Aethelred: Seeing how Lord operates, it might be better for Lord to acquire coins that does not satisfy any of his "objectives" or goals since it seems that as soon as he satifies his goal, the set is gone, anyway.
Not all collectors do well after satisfying their goals, as accomplishing the goal can kill the hunger to collect as in a sedated and very full lion who has eaten his prey and must sleep.
If your heart is set on 2 cent pieces, follow it. Otherwise, I'd stretch the bucks and buy a nice (and it will take you some time to find a nice one) PCGS or NGC MS 64 Seated Dollar.
"Vou invadir o Nordeste, "Seu cabra da peste, "Sou Mangueira......."
Well, I got the coin on approval from Pinnacle, and held it for a few days, though I had pretty much resolved to return it by day one.
I went with the advice I was given: "If you love it at first sight, keep it. If you have to think about it at all, then return it".
The coin was absolutely beautiful in person, though as I had expected, it had to be turned to the light a certain way for the colors to look like they did in that picture. I liked it a lot, but I decided it was not the right coin for me and my current budget. So I'm back to square one.
And I am somewhat tempted by this 1863 J-312 2c pattern in PCGS PR64 RB, but have no experience with patterns, so I'm a little scared of the pricetag on that. Truly a rare thing, though, and it sort of fits in with my proof 2-cent idea...

Geeze, I wouldn't want to be involved in a messy deal like that. Oh yeah, I guess I already am. Too late

It might be best to keep Lord hungry.

I did win the proof 2c piece I was bidding on. (Sent off the check on it today). We'll see how that looks in person.
