Gorgeous coins there, Spooly! Imagine: clean, untoned Texas Commems! They look GREAT!

You gotta keep your promise though: the next set you pedigree will be the Spooly Collection!

  • Cool! I bet with the stands those would make great plinking targets. image
  • Neat setup Spooly. I am working on the same idea with Oregons. Untoned, blast white, 66 and 67s. Did you try for any upgrades when you sent for the pedigree? If so, did they give you any? Are you going to keep them on the PCGS stands? They look pretty sharp. I'm keeping mine in intercept shield double boxes and am hoping they don't tone one iota.

toothpuller, I didn't go for upgrades. I will rotate 1 coin in my display case. The rest will be kept at the bank.

I got the stands from PCGS. But PCGS doesn't make them any longer.

  • Wow, what a beautiful set. Darn shame the Mint couldn't come up with any designs remotely close to that one as far as beauty, but then again, what do you expect. Only the best from Texas image

I have never seen them ,and I think they look cool !!!!
    I want one !!!

  • Last Christmas PCGS has an online shop and were selling them I think for $12.95? Kind of expensive, but good for short sets or a few displays on a desk.

I'm glad to see a Texan owns this set. Again, very nice.
  • What a set Spooly,

I think that the design on this coin is one of the most beautiful in US coinage, that is if you consider Texas a state.image

    Nice work!
  • that is is you consider Texas a state.

Very nice sets and the stands make it even more classy.

I still think there should be a Spooly Pedigree. I'd pay a premium (although small) for a genuine Spooly!

What a beautiful set, what a beautiful way to display it, and what fine pictures you took. I hope everyone you show this set to in person feels the same pride that you do! Well, let me take that last sentence back. I hope one (1) person refers to them as fishing weights! image In truth, you have a magnificant set of coins and wonderful pictures.

  • PCGS needs to make more of those stands! I love them! You've built a wonderful set there, Spoolmeister.image

Carol, BJ, Charlie: You guys need to make PCGS make more of those stands and sell them! They're awesome.

  • Apparantly, the stands are not cheap to make, with a unit cost of around $7 or $8, and were only available in bulk, so PCGS discontinued them.

Just to show what a nice guy Spooly is, he gave me one of these when I met him. Here's mine, and a purchase from yesterday to go with it.
