Are you just talking about the rust looking toning, or toning in general... tell me you wouldn't pay a premium on this:

That is a sweet barber!!!!!
I like the one that Michael has posted a couple of times.

I think it's because you new. Normally a statement like that will get you flamed.
I prefer mine white, however, others like tones, and some collectors like both toned and white.

PCGS has graded well over a hundred 1950-D nickels as MS66FS. There will be some
white ones, many that are various shades of gold, but only one that looks like this!!!

I'm definitely orgasming.

That is an awesome coin too... the only problem with the barber I posted, is it looks like he has a big zit on his nose.

That nickel is breathtakingly beautiful.
If you don't get that one, you ain't gonna get it.
Solid - Oh my God! That is the nicest (picture of a) toned Jefferson I have ever seen!
1) Black spots.
2) Grey spots.
3) Grey film.
4) All black toning......
5) That Gold stuff.... what the heck is that anyway......
I think COLOR like the coins pictured above ENHANCE the coin and it's value, but the "toning" described 1-5 I can't see even buying..... Even if it was discounted hundreds of dollars.....

Regular people of this board learn to respect each others taste around here.
It is evident this person here is looking to stir it up from comments made. There is nothing wrong with asking what interest folks may have on certain types of coins. But to be new and come out knocking some peoples taste is out of hand IMO.
Now I feel better.

Just don`t call the people that collect them suckers.
THEN you WILL get flamed!!!!

To answer Peaceman's post: Just look at the coin pictures people have posted (except Dog's...lol) and that should answer your question.
BTW, I think that in most instances the toned coin probably needs to have LUSTER also or it usually isn't considered an "eye appealing" coin.
