Actually, Cam, I found it on the ANA website. A job well done.
To all the other board members. I have had the privilege to deal with Cam in the past with various swaps and buys. The best dealing I've done in a long time and a true gentleman.
I didn't seek the honor, but was nominated by someone. This was the second time I was nominated and felt that someone else would be more worthy. The ANA sent me a letter saying I was nominated along with a packet to fill out with everything I had done numismatically. I filled it out and sent it in forgetting about it.
The second week of the Summer Seminar during the YN auction they interupted the auction and called my name as the winner. Boy was I shocked! It was a great honor, as I looked around the room and saw all the other YN's that were as deserving of the award as me.
It means alot to me and hangs proudly on my wall in my bedroom. YN issues have always been important to me especially as a YN, since adults look upon us as different and sometimes even a lower form of collector. With the award, I will represent all YN's for the year, and will do so to the best of my ability. In april, I turn 21 and the YN status leaves and I enter the world as a adult collector.
"since adults look upon us as different and sometimes even a lower form of collector." You keep doing what your doing. When I was in the Marine Corps we had a saying...............lets see ......I think it went something like......................... Let us win your hearts and minds or we'll burn your EFFIN huts down.
Cameron will be the "David Bowers" in the years to come. He's been delightful to deal with and has been a terrific source, for me, in locating some real PCGS thoughies for my sets.
I wish I could have made it to Long Beach to meet the YN in person, but I was slaving away at home doing chores... or drinking beer... I can't remember.
Accolades to you Cameron, that's quite an accomplishment! If you're ever in Santa Maria, CA. look me up and I'll buy you a nice steak dinner! Congrats again!!!
Congratuations! What a great honor to have bestowed upon you!! And as you age, may your memories of this occasion become as wonderfully toned as Barney's beautiful Morgan!
I'm glad I had a chance to meet Cameron. He certainly earned that award and has raised the bar for future YNs. I'd be proud to have a title like "Good Guy", but it is deservedly his.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Kudos again Cameron. And remember all us little guys on your way up.........cus we're the ones you'll see on the way back down. Great meeting you at the LB Show. Hope to see you again soon. Lee
Way to go Cameron. Maybe I'll see you at a show in the future sometime!
