Dog97- Are you referring to Maria Theresa (Empress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) when you referred to coins over 300 years old? Mother Theresa of Calcutta is not the same person. This brings up the question, why would the US put Mother Theresa on a coin? She has never lived in the US, was not born here (but in Albania), and her daughters of charity that worked here only formed after her mission first was established in India. She doesn't qualify to be on a US coin. If you were to nominate someone in the US religious past to be on a coin, Elizabeth Ann Seton or Frances Xavier Cabrini, would be more logical choices.
Maria Theresa's image already is minted on coinage from the Austro-Hungarian empire of the 1700's. She, by the way, was the mother of Marie Antoinette.

What would your slabbed coins be worth if the grading services went out of business? What would your coins be worth if the Internet was taken offline for good?
Oooops!! MOTHER THERESA- I'm not a Catholic so I don't know the difference between Maria Theresa and her mother. Mother Theresa has been around for 300 years too so the answer is still no. How bout something fresh like Pamala Sue Anderson on a new Bust Dollar?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Pam Anderson would be a perfect bust dollar model! Now the only issue is if we really want a girl with fake ones on there................ How about Dolly Pardon? All natural!

Dog97 - You STILL got it wrong! Mother Theresa of Calcutta died a couple of years ago. Maria Theresa died over 300 years ago. Mother Theresa worked in the Calcutta India slums for her missionary work. Maria Theresa of the Austro-Hungarian Empire had 16 kids (among them Marie Antoinette of the guillotine fame). One was Austrian and the other was Albanian, so I could see how you might get them mixed up. One easy way to distinguish between the two Theresas is that Maria Theresa WAS NOT a virgin, but Mother Theresa was.

Littlewicher - I got a book about the French Revolution and it says that when some of the people were beheaded, the eyes were blinking as the head was pulled out to show to the crowds.

Gemseeker-- Infact, there is a little known case where in the French Revolution the Marquis de Kincoin was beheaded, and to this very day, his disembodied head is still babbling incoherently.
The Secret Service would have to examine each and every one of those "fake" bust halves. I wonder if the Secret Service has any positions open right now?

Kincoin Pat--- You seem to be settling in here. I am glad about that. Things will-- and have-- calmed down since you first arrived. You have asked some reasonable questions, and made some thoughtful responses to threads. It's a good place. People here know their stuff. Relax, enjoy, and I predict you'll still be coming here well on down the road. Clankeye

I think your guide was mistaken. It sometimes took multiple blows with an ax but not a guillotine. A sharpened, angled, 40 pound piece of steel dropped a distance of 10 feet is not going to have any problem passing thru a persons neck.

I don't think we need any 300 year old stringed puppets on our coins either.
