this coin currently makes its home in an NGC satin proof67 holder and has no hairlines or marks of any kind on the coin! a fully original toned coin with color not usually seen! this coin is nothing short of amazing a major exception to the rule of how these coins usually come!!
the only reason this coin is not in a 68 holder is because of the light fly specks in the fields. in person with a 5x glass the fly specks are barely seen! but with a fully original toned coin like this mother nature takes her time and doesnot take requests!
of all the proof buffalo nickels i have ever seen i have only seen one other coin a brilliant 1936 with toning like this but just along the edges/rims of the coin.
this coin is much better looking in person. the toning is light to medium and there is a rainbow along the rims of this coin both sides!
if you go to the **pcgs book of coin grading and counterfeit detection**
and see the color photo section and see the rainbow toned rim of the 36 brilliant proof buff nick this satin coin has the same rims!
as with most all satin proof buffalo nickels of 1936 this coin is prooflike and this highlights the colors. i guess it is hard for me to describe a satin proof but if you know what you are looking at you can see this immediately
again this coin needs to be seen in person! now usually the satin proofs have likei said above prooflike surfaces that roll off the surfaces of the coin with a certain sheen to the surfaces like satin sheets.
the colors blanket the surfaces evenly on both sides of this coin in a light to medium toning of rose red turquoise blue/green golden/yellow
orange violet and maroon.
i have examined this coin personally and this coin currently resides in an eastern collection the above comments are my own thoughts on this coin

<< <i>Love the colors. Is the reverse struck a little off center or is it just the image? >>
It's off center just a tad. You can tell because the same area on both sides is offset by the same amount.
I think it is just the way the coin sits in the NGC slab.
It's got killer color. Too bad for those carbon spots.
but for me i have found that when i have tried to please everyone i usually wind up pleasing no one! i guess such is life.
thanks clankeye!
also rlinn! nwcs! thanks for the comments and
it is the photo
since the coin to me looks better with the white backround the holder area is always cropped after the photo is taken and that is why the coin looks a little off center as maybe when cropping you hit the edge a little i think? also like gmarguli says the coin is in the holder a little deeper and at an angle slight also with photos sometimes the light is off and if you see the edges it is dark but in person the edges on both sides have rainbow rims the photo is great! but nothing like seeing the coin in person! and everyone thanks for the comments!
also greg the coin doesnot have carbon spots they are little minute fly specks caused when the coin toned.
for me carbon spots are much larger and have a different cause and have a different "look" about them which is MUCH different from the look of fly specks. now i guess you can super technical but as for me there are major differences between "fly specks" carbon spots on coins
also these flecks are particiular but not exclusive to nickel coinage especially so many originally toned nickel buffs and libs and three cent nickels from my limited experiences of specializing in these coins the last 30 or so years it all depends on many factors like the overall look of the coin and photos are very deceiving and of course these coins especially so this coin needs to be sight seen to be fully apprecaited

As usual a great coin with a great description! Keep them coming.

I have a 1913 with not quite the satin look in the toned, but still nice toning creeping in from the rim. The quality is very high in my opinion, as it barely shows a hint of wear.
I am curious as to what type of price it might bring.

thanks artr you are a gentleman and extremely knowledgable about toned stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hoot as usual what can i say but THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you steal ? never i think you give more than you take!
thanks braddick i be you are at long beach it is too bad i would like to get ut there i personally have never been to a coin showe in my life maybe a small very tiny local show where it was kind of like one of those coin sellers flea market nothing wrong with that but i am not interested in damaged circ morgan dollars in ag for 20 dollars!
sarasota frank for me that 1913 is a classic coin you got a great coin for date co9llectoers and for type collectors and the toning must be very nice. that is a great coin and always in demand one of the most beautiful coins and also with the toning an eye catcher it will bring a premium and i think if the us issues the buffalo nickel in 2006 that would be great a classic coin thast deserives to be reissued why not? look at the buffalo dollars i see them evetywhere and evetyuone loves them and i think that the coins are worth tewice waht nthey were issued at! i am not a follower of thaty market so i am guessing. i mean a coin likem your 1913 is actually an undervalued coin li9ke that with the great original toning! i personally think without seeingh the coin that your coin with the nice toning and seemengingly great eye appeal and surfaces your coin would be worth with the toning anywhere between 40% to 125% or more than a regular piece with average eye appeal this is a guesstimate and i would need to see your coin to be more specific
now for me satin 1936 buffs have had a good price rise so far and for me they are not bad for the price levels they are now but they have like i said seen a rise a big rise the last two yeaRS OR LESS AND THAT IS GREAT BUT THEY are now almost fully priced but they are still goodbuys as before they were way too cheap!! BUT
the great buys would be the satin/brilliant 36 buffs that have monster extraordinary qualities like this coin this current coin that i have pictured here well this coin you never see anything like this
amaybe the 68 holdewred coins have monster qualities/toning in a 68 holder but be that as it may this coin is actually to me a great coin and a great value as this coin has much more room to grow looking like this as if you put all buffs in 67 together satin proofs pcgs/ngc this coin would be in the top 2% and with 68 coins that look like this bringing over 10,000 well this is to me a really super great undervalued coin lloking like this in 67!!!!!!!!! monster toning no marks hairlines just the light fly specks keep from 68
as to its specific monetary val;ue for me and this is like the above my opinion this coin is in an eastern collection and i think the owner of this coin could get a VERY very strong premium over greysheet bid for this 67 satin proof 36 buff! but currently buffs are hot but this is a coin that even if buffs were not hot this coin would be hot! also this coin would lookm great on a cover of an auction catalogue in an upcoming sale and i think it might bring a monster price with bidders! and be worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hope this helps now if you ever have any questions are per value maybe i can help let me know in a pm now maybe my answer will not help you at all but at leaST I GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT and then we all learn as i would like evertyone to have knowledge to make better informed decsisons!
