I know this is lame, so please talk me out of it.

First off, does anyone know if PCGS is offering 'same day' (on site) grading at Long Beach? Usually they offer some type of advertisment and discount before hand but I haven't read anything stating they will (unlike NGC who is offering on site for $50. a coin).
So, if PCGS is- please talk me out of this lame idea: I have two coins, one an 1871 Seated dollar I just bought that is soooooo PO01 it would make your head spin. Barely a ghost of any detail outlined on both obverse and reverse with barely a hint of the date (but, it is what it is).
Second coin is a freebie a member here sent me, a 1976-D Ike in about FA02/GD03 condition. I want to get these both graded on Thursday and just don't want to wait the mandatory 3 weeks or so PCGS is taking. I know, I know, "instant gratification", but I'm also going to save a bit on postage, right (!)? and then there is the "could get loss in the mail, honey". But, does this justify the expense? (That's retorical.)

how's that?
Sometimes instant gratitfication is worth it
just my humble opinion

p.s. I have a seated half that might grade FA02 or PO01.... Should I submit them?

(Maybe afterwards I'll send them to NGC for their PhotoCertificate (whatever-it's-called) where they photo the coin and write up a nice little background of it.
Or maybe I'll just take them (once they're PCGS holdered) to the ANACS verbal grading table and ask, "Did PCGS get these two right?" and then follow up with their crossover policies. . .
Ah, the fun of Long Beach!!

You will get the instant gratification and I will get the bags!

You sir, are going to get to be "KNOWN" in this hobby.
Oh, and don't let the finger pointing and laffing bother you none.
I'd love to see the face of the guy at PCGS when you hand him the coins for grading.
What we really need is "Candid Coin Camera" at the big shows to catch the humorous things like this that happen.

Just for your information, it takes exactly 15 years to wear one to that level. It has since been replaced by one of the new "golden" coins as my wife kept complaining about the holes in my pockets that she blames on Ike. I still kept it around until I found it a good home and what better home can it have than the "Braddick Collection".
BTW, for another reference point, I havn't had a "holy pocket" in about two years. Mayhaps she was on to something, but my luck went out with Ike. I shall miss him......
But the Ike... now that would be a head scratcher. You'll probably use up more graders' time than any other coin that day!
So I'd do just the Ike. Don't dilute the puzzling impact.

It was YOU!! I even started a thread when this Ike arrived, trying to figure out who it was that sent it to me! I couldn't fathom a guess as to who it was as the return address was criptic at best.
Airplanenut: You can tell that Dealer friend of yours he has the "eye" for these miracle PO01's. It looks like he's a good source.

of course, do it!! as others have said, the look on the faces of the graders will be priceless, though they may already be familiar with your shenanigans. one thing i've wanted to ask---is there any way you can get your "bottom feeders" hooked up with a pedigree? some collectors may disagree, but those of us in the know who've followed your effort appreciate the uniqueness of your set. i think that in itself deems it worthy. i try to picture the frantic bidding when those coins hit the auction block in some distant sale, but i'm sure you know how hard it can be to keep your eyes shut while laughing hysterically!!!

<< <i>The graders might be rushed for time and could give you a FR-02 for the seated dollar and an AG-03 for the Ike. Now wouldn't THAT be a kick in the pants when all you were really shooting for the poorest graded. >>
AG-03 ??? Could be....

Strange... Ike looks somehow younger, when he's all worn down like that. I guess all his wrinkles got worn off.

And apparently he lives on Odwe St.
Someday they might end up in at the ANA museum as the Best Worst Coin Collection

It is $65 per coin for these if you decide to do this.
Would PCGS bag the Ike since they can't tell if it is a type-1 or type-2?
I wouldn't do it. However, that's coming from someone who expressed thru that PO-01 Columbian.
Knowing it's $65.00 a pop does definitely slow me down. I'll probably just pay the $10. and be done with it.
I would like an immediate answer though on one or two others (rainbow stuff).
It's just that I've never done the show walk through and think it would be kind of cool.
Greg- your reasoning is sound. Of course, you're also beginning to sound a little like my wife.
Guess I should just be grateful she doesn't look like you...
