I won this Roosevelt dime in a Heratage auction.

For those who are in to toned coins, do you find the toning attractive? What generally is considered desirable toning? Are blues, reds, and yellows more preferable than brown? I heard somewhere that attractive toning is worth maybe a point or two to certain grading services. Do you find that to be true?

As for the grading services passing out extra points for excellent toning, i think it may bump a PQ piece to the next grade up, but in my experience, not more than that.

To me it's ok in the picture. Nothing that turns me off but nothing I would pay a premium for.
It probably looks better in real life.

Yes, I think that's attractive toning. But, you have to realize what you are asking is like holding up an inkblot and asking people what they see in it. Everyone is going to tell you something different.
Are there general areas that people agree constitue attractive toning? Yes. Most people don't like it too dark, too brown, too this, too that. But, all in all, a very subjective area. People don't even agree whether they like toning at all, let alone whether it's attractive. What I would say to you, is you are on your own with your own particular tastes. When it comes time to sell, then everyone else's tastes come into play.

The scan sucked, but the blue suggests an appealing tone.
