Die chip. It's a so-called BIE error, not uncommon in that era.
It looks like this is related to a die chip, which can create the small extra mark seen on some Lincoln cents. The BIE variety is a known type of mint error caused by a chip on the die between the letters of LIBERTY. These types of errors are fairly common on certain dates, but they are still interesting pieces to find and learn about. Thanks for sharing it with the group.
