Easily the fugliest Walker I’ve ever seen

OK, yeah, it’s MS65, but I’d wouldn’t pay more than melt for it. 🤮
Makes me wonder… why? Did someone actually think this toning was worth a premium?
To each his own, I guess…

Why that’s rare “off road toning” worth a large premium to off roaders 😉

There IS a tiny bit of color in those black splotches. A tiny bit.

You’re a genius. ROFL 😂

It's hideous!
I think that's the fugliest one ive ever seen
If the coin actually looks like that now, I wouldn’t assume that it did at the time it was encapsulated.

I do wonder if that half offers a slight reddish tone when tilted.
It would have been fun if NGC had awarded a STAR of PLUS grade.
That coin has terminal cancer.
It was probably dipped and not properly rinsed. The left over acid is eating it alive.
It looks like it was sitting in the back of a stall in a public restroom!! 💩
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Looks to be a newer holder and perhaps the image captured the coin in the most unfavorable light. I suspect the search to find the most favorable light remains a work in progress that may not come to pass. So pass it is…
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Here it is from NGC's verification page and the reverse.
Looks aesthetically challenged though I think it oddly interesting. I also believe it looked like that going to NGC and is not a bad dip job.

Actually it did look like that when it was encapsulated. See the verification photos above.
I still hold out hope that the coin doesn’t actually look like it’s portrayed in the verification photo. Perhaps the patina appears less opaque and less ugly in hand. Fingers crossed.

No, I saw it in hand today, at a friend’s coin shop. That pic in the OP was mine. It pretty much does look like the NGC photos in hand. Obviously I didn’t buy it, but was intrigued by it, since I had such a visceral negative reaction to it. Hence this thread.

BTW, I confessed to my friend that I was badmouthing one of his coins on CU, and showed him @MrSpud ’s most excellent GIF animation. He has a sense of humor, and laughed at that. Even asked me to send him the pic.

(I posted another thread praising one of his other coins- which I bought-so it balances out.)

The chocolate is supposed to be on the inside of the coin, not the outside.

Nothing this egregious, but I HAVE seen an NGC “star” coin or two that I didn’t like at all. Usually because of toning. My tastes occasionally differ from theirs, obviously.
I don’t care how vibrant the colors are: if toning is at all streaky or mottled, then it ain’t for me.

I don't really mind the tone. I imagine with better pictures the eye appeal would appear much less negative.

I like many toning patterns. Not this one. Wow....
Dave
you beat me to the foil-chocolate joke
Yes, not a bad joke, but @MrSpud ’s “off road mudslinging” GIF was even better. LOL 😂

Buy the coin not the holder.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
More like pass on the coin, despite the holder.

butt ugly !!!
Crack out and EZst will improve its value, at least on Fleabay, where its worth $20,000 as RARE and HARD TO FIND.

Shouldn’t a 65 have positive eye appeal or at least neutral? Yikes!
I know original and attractive don’t always go hand in hand. But this is more like original and attractive got into a fistfight and are no longer on speaking terms.
THAT IS FUGLY MAN! 🤮😵💫
…a fugly gem I guess
An example of a coin that should have been rejected for slabbing due to its exceptionally unattractive toning pattern.
What an ugly dog. Did it look like that when slabbed.
Rare camouflage dalmatian toning!

Shouldn't the holder say Unc details wheel mark?
That's called plumbers toning.
Someone needs to buy this to keep in the forum family.
It belongs in the HOF virtual museum with Fred's PCGS encapsulated cricket and @airplanenut 's ANACS detailed coin with about 6 qualifiers 😆 (corroded, bent, scratched, graffiti...)

Well, it certainly needs to be sent in for a green or possibly gold bean, don’tcha think? 🤔🤪
That coin shouldn't be walking. It should run for help!
I have a PCGS 62 Walker that is a total dog, I may use that sticker and throw it on ebay in a charity auction.
I think it’s kinda pretty

I wonder what Ricko would say about this coin.

Maybe a brown bean.
I'd offer melt, and send it back to NGC under its guarantee with a note "please fix this." I ended up getting stuck with an ugly toned proof Mercury Dime that I had to buy (it was part of a lot and I had to buy the entire lot to get what I really wanted). I sent it back to NGC, they dipped it. It cleaned up well and they sent it back to me.
Send it to CAC.
