1922 Weak D different PCGS numbers

What is the difference between the PCGS number coins 2538 and 3110?
I see both in PCGS holders listed as weak D, the 2538 has a partial D and the 3110 has no trace of a D but both have the weak reverse. PCGS seems to be down currently. Thanks!

There could certainly be small variety changes. I don't really know anything about the 1922-D cents (especially because I don't really have the money to own one of my own) but I think this is probably the best possibility. Whether or not both cents are labeled as the "Weak D" variety, there could be a secondary variety with its own PCGS number.

According to the current 'pop report':
~ 2538 is RB with NO weak call-outs;
~ and, 3110 is BN with the "weak D" call-out.

Thank you!
@CaptHenway any indication that PCGS may revamp these numbers in light of the research in your book?
I would hope that they would, having read the book, but I would expect that ANACS would be more likely to be the "pioneers" in proper authentication.
I certainly hope so.
Also, the "No D, Weak Reverse" was discontinued - currently all "Weak Reverse", including the former "No D" are classified as "Weak D".
I'm hoping this is eventually debunked as you can look at my no D, weak reverse with a 20x loupe and not see a trace. I know others have similar examples as well.

I certainly hope so.> @lusterlover said:
Indeed, the “No D, Worn Reverse” exists, now for Die Pairs #1, 3 and 4. See my book.
@Charles_Morgan may be able to help with this.
