Best/Favorite Finds of 2025

It seems like many are having to take an extended break (at least everyone on the East Coast) from detecting due to all the recent snow and ice events, plus sub-20 degree temps. Since new-find posts have been far and few between, and we’re still in January, I thought it would be a good opportunity for everyone to post what they consider their best and/or favorite finds from 2025.

I’ll get things moving with a recovery from back in August… a Spanish 1 Reale - and a first for me:

A close 2nd was this tough date 1919-D Standing Lib. I find an avg of 5-6 “Standers” every year, but none have compared to this date/mintmark combo.

Congratulations, that's some spectacular finds! The 1781 Reale is a great historic find and your 1919-D quarter really is a eye-candy, and pretty valuable aswell!

If I may add my own favourite finds - it's mostly about local history. Nothing particularely valuable or fancy, but they always put a smile on my face when I remember the days I found them:

    • a (mid to late 1800's?) brass religious medal, dedicated to two lesser known saints: St. Bernward and St. Godehard of Hildesheim
    • a 6 Pfennig silver coin from the free imperial city of Goslar, dated 1739. It's special to me because it was (most likely) minted from silver from the Rammelsberg mine, wich today is a world heritage site
    • a cast copper alloy horse harness loop. They are pretty hard to date because the design did not change that much over almost two milennia. Mine is probably medieval, it's currently under examination by the local archeologic authorities.

Those are very interesting finds, G. I really like that old silver 6P, so thanks for sharing!

Anyone else have images of their favorite finds they can share from last year?

The SLQ was my only non-dime this year. Found 2 Sterling rings as well.

When clearing off the dirt and making out that eagle in flight… never fails to make the heart skip a beat!

I get as much joy digging silver as I do on buying a $10k coin. Great hobby and I wish I lived some where warmer
