FUN show roll call.
The 71st FUN show opens 3 weeks from today. The convention will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in the N/S building Hall NB in Orlando, Florida. This year's dates are January 8-11. The bourse has been sold out for months.
This is the premier Numismatic event of the year and sets the tone of the market for the year. If you have never attended this show, there is still time to make your plans.
I have an airplane, rental car and hotel reservations. I am very much looking forward to the show!

It is my plan to be there.
Plan to spend considerable funds and will be bringing many rattlers, OGH, and high grade early CAC US coinage to sell. Time to thin the heard.
Any suggestions as to possible dealers with good reputations that might be interested in purchasing?
Wife and I are driving making a bit of a vaca on either side..........

Table 334. There from Wed-Sat closing. Stop by to say hi.

I'll make the 2+ hour drive over there on Thursday to spend the day.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Consider talking to Great Collections regarding their auctions.
I will be there, and I will be setting up two exhibits on the first day. I will be speaking about $5 gold pieces at 12:45 PM on Thursday, January 8. It would great if you can attend. There will be loads of Power Point slides, and I will endeavor to use my expertise to answer your questions.
I’ll be there Thursday and Friday. Here’s a photo of me with the clothes I’ll be wearing, including my red and white striped bag. If you see me, I’d love if you’d come over and introduce yourself!

I intend to be there. Look for the hat.
Here I was at FUN 2023, with "Ben". Two guys with glasses and funny hats.
My current hat is but a sad shadow of its former glorious self. It used to be the "Holey Gold Hat", before I got laid off in the Great Recession and had to sell all my baubles in order to survive. Now it is merely the "Holey Coin Hat" (no gold). But I've still got some fun holey pieces on there.
Before, circa 2010 (all gold, including a $3 piece, a Classic $2.50, and an ex-Eliasberg Roman):
The "Holey Coin Vest" is also a thing of the past.
Way before, circa 2000 and 2004:
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Ben’s three-cornered hat reminds me of a Pirate hat a six-year old or so boy wore to our house this past Halloween as he was trick-or-treating. My wife called me over to the door to say how cute he was, and she asked him, “So where are your Buccaneers?” He then said, “They’re under my buckin’ hat!” 😆

I think this is going to be a great show. I'll be there Thursday - Saturday.
I’m jealous. Haven’t been to FUN in 11 years. I envision being there every year starting in around 5 years but until then work and fatherhood make it next to impossible to get down to FL in January.
Hope all of you have a blast!
Yes for me (& the missus this year). While she likes FUN, I think she’s also worried about how much buying I intend on doing! Aside: she should be!
Thursday-Saturday for me; i hope to see many forum members too!

While not round-metal-disc related, one of the highlights of this year's FUN show will be all the paper money on display in the Exhibit area. There will be two HUGE Non-Competitive exhibits - Tony Swicer, the FUN President and a former resident of Kentucky, will be showing off FIFTY cases of Kentucky National Bank Notes from his personal collection and, yours truly, will have, on display, THIRTY cases of New York Nationals featuring over One Hundred and Twenty serial number #1 notes, both large and small. along with some Unique or other very rare notes. I put together a little brochure which will be available in the Exhibit area to explain to the non-paper money folks exactly where they're looking at. If you are attending the show, please stop by.

I’m flying up from Hollywood, FL, on Thursday the 8th and spending the day…returning back in the evening. RT ticket on Sprit…$62…….which is less than the gas, tolls, and time I’d spend driving (approx 3-3.5 hours each way). Bringing some modern gold/silver pieces to hopefully sell and or trade for better stuff! See you all there!
I will attend and look forward to catching up with many forum members. Plan to hang with Desert Moon as well.
"She comes out of the sun in a silk dress,
running like a water color in the rain...."
I will be there.
Not to put a damper on anyone’s plans to attend BUT the intense and unpredictable fierce weather across much of the country may impact FUN attendance.. Many flights are being cancelled or significantly delayed. Those major dealers shipping their stuff may encounter delays. Driving may be very hazardous. Am I planning to attend? Yes. But just saying …
And this weather trend brought on by climate change will get increasingly fierce, affecting future shows. Believe me.
I’ll be there. Already booked. I might try and sell something random. Trying to raise some capital. Once I reach my goal I will roll up my rug.
Empty Nest Collection
I will be there looking to dispose of some my type set coins I have left.
Another year with no FUN. Ive been twice, once set up as a dealer back in 2019. 2020 change my company in many ways. If I do make to down there for the show again it will be on my own as part of a family "vacation".
How are you getting from the airport to the show?
Went last year for the first time. Awesome show. Going again this year. Driving down from Daytona
I’ll UBER or Lyft (I have several friends there but not gonna bother them for a ride…). I did it last year and it was around $15 -$18 each way…about a 15 minute ride. Figure my total costs at $100 + or - a few bucks…..so I’ll just sell 2 ounces of silver that I got for $20 an ounce way back in the days of cheap silver…and go enjoy myself for the day. I figured gas (my Mercedes is a gas guzzling beast…but I love it anyway) would be around 25 gallons at $3.45 = $86.25 (premium mid-grade)… car insurance is by the mile so 26.5 cents per mile x 170 miles (max miles per day charge….+ $1.87 daily rate = $45.05 + $1.87 = $46.92) and tolls to and from Orlando are around $36. So in all approximately $170….plus six to seven hours on the road of stop and go traffic. Flying made much more sense economically and time wise. See you all there!
I will be there Thursday January 8 through Saturday January 10th. I plan on stopping at NGC beforehand to pick up my 1872-CC $20 cancelled die. Hopefully, NGC did a good job in encapsulating the cancelled which was not easy to do. PCGS and does not “slab” cancelled dies.
By the way is PCGS, NGC or CACG doing a luncheon or get together?
It is not something I can attend but I do hope you will all give some thought to posting reports. James
Table 1006, come by and check out our seated and trade dollars.
I'll be there on Thursday and/or Friday.
Didn't look like I was going to attend but did something crazy and booked a 1 day trip to Orlando for January 8th. In and out, but look forward to it!

What time are you arriving into MCO? I arrive around 0800…..if you want to share an UBER.
I’m flying in from the left coast and will be arriving Wednesday evening. This will be my first major show aside from multiple Long Beach ones and the ANA in Anaheim.

Any plans for groups of CU'ers to gather....lunch or dinner...drinks ?
Don't get there until around 10am. Thanks for the offer!

I'm going
I'm arriving on Wednesday and staying until Sunday (not sure what time yet). Hopefully there'll be some meet-and-greets before the festivities start.
I'll be poring over financial stock research reports and 2026 Stock Market Prediction Research for some clients so if anybody wants any stuff on mutual funds or specific stocks, let me know via PM and I'll see what I have.
I'll be there to chew gum and buy Capped Bust half dimes. And I'm all outa gum.
