FUN show roll call.

goldengolden Posts: 10,225 ✭✭✭✭✭

The 71st FUN show opens 3 weeks from today. The convention will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in the N/S building Hall NB in Orlando, Florida. This year's dates are January 8-11. The bourse has been sold out for months.

This is the premier Numismatic event of the year and sets the tone of the market for the year. If you have never attended this show, there is still time to make your plans.

I have an airplane, rental car and hotel reservations. I am very much looking forward to the show!

Who is going?

  • It is my plan to be there.
Plan to spend considerable funds and will be bringing many rattlers, OGH, and high grade early CAC US coinage to sell. Time to thin the heard.
Any suggestions as to possible dealers with good reputations that might be interested in purchasing?

I’m jealous. Haven’t been to FUN in 11 years. I envision being there every year starting in around 5 years but until then work and fatherhood make it next to impossible to get down to FL in January.

Hope all of you have a blast!

While not round-metal-disc related, one of the highlights of this year's FUN show will be all the paper money on display in the Exhibit area. There will be two HUGE Non-Competitive exhibits - Tony Swicer, the FUN President and a former resident of Kentucky, will be showing off FIFTY cases of Kentucky National Bank Notes from his personal collection and, yours truly, will have, on display, THIRTY cases of New York Nationals featuring over One Hundred and Twenty serial number #1 notes, both large and small. along with some Unique or other very rare notes. I put together a little brochure which will be available in the Exhibit area to explain to the non-paper money folks exactly where they're looking at. If you are attending the show, please stop by.

I’m flying up from Hollywood, FL, on Thursday the 8th and spending the day…returning back in the evening. RT ticket on Sprit…$62…….which is less than the gas, tolls, and time I’d spend driving (approx 3-3.5 hours each way). Bringing some modern gold/silver pieces to hopefully sell and or trade for better stuff! See you all there!

I’ll be there. Already booked. I might try and sell something random. Trying to raise some capital. Once I reach my goal I will roll up my rug.

I will be there looking to dispose of some my type set coins I have left.

Another year with no FUN. Ive been twice, once set up as a dealer back in 2019. 2020 change my company in many ways. If I do make to down there for the show again it will be on my own as part of a family "vacation".

I’ll UBER or Lyft (I have several friends there but not gonna bother them for a ride…). I did it last year and it was around $15 -$18 each way…about a 15 minute ride. Figure my total costs at $100 + or - a few bucks…..so I’ll just sell 2 ounces of silver that I got for $20 an ounce way back in the days of cheap silver…and go enjoy myself for the day. I figured gas (my Mercedes is a gas guzzling beast…but I love it anyway) would be around 25 gallons at $3.45 = $86.25 (premium mid-grade)… car insurance is by the mile so 26.5 cents per mile x 170 miles (max miles per day charge….+ $1.87 daily rate = $45.05 + $1.87 = $46.92) and tolls to and from Orlando are around $36. So in all approximately $170….plus six to seven hours on the road of stop and go traffic. Flying made much more sense economically and time wise. See you all there!

I will be there Thursday January 8 through Saturday January 10th. I plan on stopping at NGC beforehand to pick up my 1872-CC $20 cancelled die. Hopefully, NGC did a good job in encapsulating the cancelled which was not easy to do. PCGS and does not “slab” cancelled dies.

I think this is going to be a great show. I'll be there Thursday - Saturday.

I'm arriving on Wednesday and staying until Sunday (not sure what time yet). Hopefully there'll be some meet-and-greets before the festivities start.

I'll be poring over financial stock research reports and 2026 Stock Market Prediction Research for some clients so if anybody wants any stuff on mutual funds or specific stocks, let me know via PM and I'll see what I have.
