The search function here sucks.

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,995 ✭✭✭✭✭

I can't seem to find a particular post of mine from a year or two ago.
Title with coin date, no luck. Key words, no luck. Author, nope. Date range 1 year from..., nope.

Why is it so hard to use? Am I the only one that can't figure it out?

It is a random date generator.

You're exactly right @Meltdown, it sucks! I look for a recent post or thread, or word or subject and it give me crap from 25 years ago!! Maybe that's why I'm resurrecting old threads all the time.

You would think it would pull up most recent in chronological order, nope!! I did a simple search on "Lincoln Cents". The first thread it pulled up was from 2009!!

    @Creg - You're not kidding!!

The search function on the site is absolutely terrible, useless.

Funny, I can typically find what I'm looking for with a little diligent search word choice. To avoid that tedium, I started to save threads important to me in my favorites.

Or, you could complain and have a meltdown. :o

I agree searching for specific words or topics of posts by other members is terrible. But to see your own previous posts, just click on "My Discussions" under Quick Links on the top right of this page.

No doubt, we can too, time waste and tedium make us avoid it too, though.

Or, you could complain and have a meltdown. :o

You’re damn straight, there’s a lot of buried info here that the system makes difficult to find.

@Meltdown If its one of your own threads they are listed in order on your profile page

Or you can use the bookmark feature. There are ways to do things but people tend to be empowered by complaining and getting mad about stuff that doesn't matter. Consider all the time wasted in your life getting upset about trivial things, but it makes some people feel good to do that. One of the major flaws of the human species.

To the rest of you, thanks for the help on finding my own threads.

Amen Brotha! It has sucked since the last ‘update refresh’ years back … before that it worked well.

If you know you started it in the last couple years, try this instead.

On the right of the page below quick links, hit My Discussions

it will show ALL the threads you started, just start going down until you find it +++

Thanks Dave. Another person already suggested that and using bookmarks. I appreciate the help.

AWESOME~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a couple changes I came up with this:

    site:forums.collectors.com 1964D CARR

I wanted to locate an old Daniel Carr thread here and it took seconds via google:

As an ex-software developer, the sort order of the search results drives me crazy.

Example: When I search for ‘PCGS’, the first thread returned is by Condor, from 2005!

Great video. Top song. Filmed before the Fremont Experience makeover. Many people go to Vegas to find what they are looking for.
