Pasted post of mine on Perk's thread from a few days ago:
As far as the Eagles chances, there are some inherent problems which shouldn't be ignored. One is their motivation. Of course they won it last season. But nobody is going to convince me that their motivation to win it is the same this season.
Another problem is the fact that the Eagles and the Chiefs played more games last season than any other team. I mentioned this factor before the season began, that it was one reason I thought the Chiefs likely wouldn't make it to the playoffs. After all that success, they collapsed in the Super Bowl, and despite their talent, I expected that downward slide to continue this season which it did. I also stated the chances of the Eagles winning the Super Bowl this season was "iffy" and I still believe that, despite being a huge fan.
Can't bet like a fan and expect to make money sports betting. Have to bet reality, and the fact is the Eagles at times this season have played like a tired football team. I think those who never played football, can't fully understand the difference just playing a few extra games during the year, the extra toll it takes on a human body. They might say it's only one or two extra games to win the Super Bowl, what's the big deal? Well, when you're already nicked up, and not resting, you're simply exacerbating the injuries, and making it longer for the injuries to heal, if the injuries ever heal at all.
Even with all the rule changes to make football safer, it's still a brutal sport. Before this becomes a dissertation, LOL, I'll just say that because of all just mentioned, is a reason I probably won't play the Eagles against the 49ers, or anytime else during this playoff season. That being said, I'll be very happy if the Eagles go on to win it again, and it costs me money that I could have made betting on them. Fortunately, I don't need the money that bad. 😉

I'm still looking at the game, but probably won't play the ML or spread.
Haven't even looked at the prop odds yet, but I might play a Barkley rushing prop. I think the way the line moved, tells me that Barkley with two weeks rest, is raring to go. That being said, a running back with a fragile knee, anything could happen, and he could re-injure it on any play. If that happens early in the game, I think the Eagles will have a difficult time winning this game.
A BEAGLE's (a hound dog) independence and strong instincts are often mistaken for stubbornness. It’s not necessarily that they don’t want to play, but more likely, they’re following their plan or their eyes while staying true to their goal.
Once they know something interesting, nothing can get in their way. The good thing is they understand, it's a Philly Thing.
I wouldnt worry to much Eagles fans, the ref is a life long Eagles fan and theyre 9-1 in games he refs for them. Why they assigned him to this game no idea
Let’s hope the Eagles’ offensive coordinator gets the ax. He is totally unimaginative, especially in the second half .

Have noticed these small running backs. Vidal with Chargers, Montgomery with Detroit etc. When did this evolve? They don't offer much in the blocking area for the QB.

does putting them on the field raise the chances of a run?

This game was actually much worse for the Eagles than the final score indicated.
Purdy had two picks. Hurts had no picks. Barkley had over 100 yards rushing. No Eagles lost fumbles. Eagles were 6 point favorites at home. All that should have said the Eagles win the game by around 10 points.
The old saying in NFL football is "on any given Sunday" and we all know what that means. The breaks don't go your way, and the worst team in the league can beat the best team. The Eagles caught those breaks, but still couldn't win.
Long story short, this game better be a wake-up call for the Eagles that some serious changes need to be made, or it's going to be a very disappointing next season.

AJ Brown and his big mouth couldn't catch crucial balls, that didn't help much at all
I was wrong about multiple wild card weekend games, but what I thought would happen in the Philly game was the worst prediction I had. I really thought they would handle SF handily. Whereas the Niners were completely decimated with injuries, Philly was completely healthy -- the starters rested the week before. I really thought we'd see the defending champs shot out of a cannon in their own house. But once the game started it was more of the same -- me wondering who the OC is, who actually calls the plays, and why on earth that offense continues to look the way it does with that much talent. And then we have the sideline altercation between Brown & Sirianni. That team is a mess and that was a very bad loss. Sirianni isn't going anywhere -- dude just won an SB, after all -- but whoever the OC is needs to go. They are so unimaginative and have looked like they are stuck in quicksand on offense almost every week this season. When they got to the SF 20 at the end of the game, I had no zero faith in their ability to punch it in and win.
I'd be shocked if there aren't some significant changes to that team in the offseason. Wouldn't surprise me at all if AJ Brown is wearing a different jersey next season.

Completely agree.
When first handicapping that Eagles game, I saw it as a no bet game. Then the line moved strongly in the Eagles favor, and I got sucked into looking at it again and "convincing" myself it was a better play then when I first looked at it. I know better than to do that, I did it anyway, and it cost me money. A double whammy, losing money, with my favorite professional sports team getting booted from the playoffs.
Yea, I had mentioned earlier in the season that the Eagles play calling had become too predictable. I'm not saying to become cowboys out there, but come on, fooling the defense once in a while wouldn't be a bad idea.
it was a tough end of the season for the Eagles. at the beginning of the season I really thought they were going back to the Bowl.
Do you think AJ Brown will be back? he seems, at least to an outsider, that he is a malcontent. just not happy with his role on the team.
I sincerely doubt if AJ Brown will be back. Not sure though.
When "motivated" he's one of the best wide receivers in the league. The problem is he takes too many plays off. That is not acceptable.
He is starting to put me in mind of a less talented Terrell Owens. Just a major distraction.
Good analogy. Owens also played for the Eagles for a couple seasons.
Owens first day of training camp for the Eagles, he gets into an argument with the head coach, Andy Reid, because Owens liked wearing spandex, and Reid wouldn't allow it. Ya can't make this chit up.

Looks like a windy day in Philadelphia for the Eagles game. Least no snowballs headed towards the Niners.

Halftime - going as expected.
I wouldnt worry to much Eagles fans, the ref is a life long Eagles fan and theyre 9-1 in games he refs for them. Why they assigned him to this game no idea
That said I would rather see the Eagles win
Fire AJ Preller
man, this is a brutal game to watch. no rhythm on offense for either team
pulling for the Eagles though.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Sure not looking very good. That 1 point deficit seems like 100 points right now.
Wow - that pick sure helped, and I didn't even ask for it. LOL
May not matter. We shall see.
Need at the very least a field goal on this drive, or it's probably over.
49ers sure started helping out the Eagles here.
Still not convinced Eagles will win this game.
Would sure hate to lose, and see a 100+ yard effort by Barkley be all for naught.
2 point lead. But I'm not even contemplating the Eagles will win this game.
I've got my Eagles season headstone all ready to go.
I wasn't really expecting the Eagles to win it all this season anyway.
No problem, no complaints.
That championship last season will satisfy me for at least a few years, maybe more.
49ers score a TD here, and it's time to play the Willie Nelson song.
Well it was fun.
Until next season.......
As you know tough to repeat. But I thought they would get by Niners. When Kittle got knocked out the dog line must of increased for Niners.
Tough loss @stevek
Sorry bud
i was hoping for more of hurts' offense machine

Vidal for Chargers had some good runs but could not withstand a larger NE defenseman's rush resulting in a Herbert sack. Maybe it evens out?
Could be.

caught this from a very disgruntled Philly fan
