***The Official 2025 Lincoln Cent Thread*** Anyone buying, hoarding, or even caring about this 1¢

I just bought two rolls of 2025-P and two rolls of 2025-D on eBay.
For $70 I'm going to just sit back, have some fun and watch the show develop.
Should be worth the price of admission, win or lose.
Got to have some skin in the game, right?
I'm seeing a great introduction/gateway to the world of U.S. coins for YN's.
What do others think?
edited to add: I know, I know....didn't feel like dealing with the bank.

I'm going to sit back too, but penniless for now..
Good luck if this is an investment. Nothing wrong with collecting what you like as well.
.
You bought four rolls of 2025 for $70?
Hey, that includes shipping!!!
😂
i was going to post that data
back in feb the word came out and the january numbers for denver were less than the last 2009 issue
i thought they had legs but decided to wait to see if more are minted and the 2 months worth for denver already beat the last 2009 denver issue
they are still red, roll search and cardboard holder a couple
Canadian Mint had a promo selling last rolls of their pennies back in the day. Would expect US mint to do the same.

I am still holding out and watching the continued price drop of the 2023 extra V cent...They must be taking up space (and time and money) so folks are starting to get rid of them from the ridiculous highs they had hoped for. Who knows. If everyone rushes over to get 2025's, I may be in luck sooner than I think...Just saying.

I expect a lot of hoarding for 2025 cents. It has a predictable result on prices.
I don't feel so bad now for spending $70 for 4 rolls of 2025 Lincoln cents, P&D.
I'd hate to see the price for the Denver Mint issue from CoinsTV.
Who's in?? 😂
CoinsTV
That's only like 140 times the face value of the cents... steal of a deal imo

I am waiting on Brinks to drop off some of these 2025 Cents in our weekly change order.

I don't believe 595,400,000 cents are currently in circulation. It's just too many cents.
This only guarantees they will be hoarded beyond belief.
You know what “They” say about a xxxx and his money. Almost 600,000,000 minted, and $70. for 4 rolls? No way!
Not to be argumentative with you personally, truly.
I've always thought it was funny how ingrained the idea of "value" is in the coin hobby. People spend $8 on a cup of coffee every morning - no big deal. People with hobbies like golf spend $90 on greens fees - enjoy the day. People spend thousands visiting tourist traps like Disney World - everyone wishes them the best.
Spend $100 on coins because you enjoy them - half the hobby loses their minds.
Live and let live; it's your money to spend however you wish and it's only $70...but that said, for me that same $70 would have gone into a nice numismatic coin with actual upside. Nearly 600 million of these exist out there-so they aren't and will not be rare by any definition I know. The mint already has sunk cost in them so logically all should/will be released, and most will be hoarded due to all the hype. So...from a business standpoint at least, the best money on coins like these is the quick money. If I had any of them I'd flip them in a heartbeat. jmho

such a deal
We didn’t lose our minds because someone spent $70 on change, that happened before we started collecting coins
I did the numbers, and think that the low mintage doesnt justify the price per coin. That being said, nobody can have the entire series without 2025. I'd pay a premium for the coins, maybe even 10 cents on the penny. But if there are hoarders who simply hoard, the individual coins could go higher. I don't think any of this matters in the long run. I'd rather have a roll of 1943 steel pennies (which my dad, a WW2 veteran) had in his mason jar of treasures. I'll ask for a few rolls of pennies at the bank and see if I get a 2025 or a 2024. If I had a 2025 in hand, I would hoard it - forever, just like those old rolls of 43's sitting in a jar in an undisclosed garage somewhere.
I'm going to a coin show the 15th and will be looking for rolls of 2025 cents there. I just got my order for 4 2025 clad proof sets in the mail today. Now I have to decide to break 1 or 2 open for the cents to send to a TPG.

I imagine that the 2017 P cents were hoarded too. They are still in circulation - condition is usually far from AU at best. I have a complete box of OBW 2017 P cents in my safe and hope to find a box of 2025s soon from the CU. I may not find what I hope for, but that is the fun of the hunt too. This may not make CENTS to everybody out there.

More good deals to be had on eBay for the coveted 2025-S Proof Lincoln Cent.
If you have $35 and in many cases more, you can own one of these 'last year of Mintage' cents in the raw.
Oh, don't forget you'll pay some nice shipping rates on these coins.
😊
edited to add: You can buy the entire clad proof set for $40.25 from the Mint right now.
😂
Buy the clad proof set from the USM and break out the coins ypu want. Cheeper than buying from Ebay. ☺️

Now the crazy “errors are popping up! Going to have to get me one of these photoshop, I mean, D/D errors to go with my 43 D/D. ;-)
Well, shoot. It’s already ended.

Perhaps someone figured out that the last cent RPM was in 1989 just before they stopped hand punching and placed the mint mark on the master hub? But the EBay Photoshop army will be busy making all sorts of interesting low quality images.
.
While I might agree with the basic sentiment, that's a flawed comparison. The issue isn't the collecting of 2025 cents, it's the price paid. If someone offered you identical green's fees for $90 and $900, would you defend paying the $900?
No fair, I guess he could answer your hypothetical question if you told him how rich he is. Perhaps this is a better example, does one BU Trade dollar bring as much enjoyment as five hundred OVERPRICED BU maverick tokens?
So, your argument is: He's having fun wrong.
Lol. No. I dont care what he does. But spending $17.50 per roll when you can get them for 50 cents per roll isn't necessary to have fun. The only complaint anyone has registered INCLUDING THE OP (with regard to the proofs) is that people are overpaying because of the hype.
How do you know they're over paying?
That's a clearly worse example. You've turned it into two different items rather than the same item at two different prices. You can get rolls at the bank for 50 cents or pay $17.50 per roll on eBay... for the SAME roll.
If anyone wants to lock in with me at $10 per roll (shipping included) I'll start hitting the banks.
Because they ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE for less.
Where?
From the US Mint for the proofs and from the banks for the cents. Which, again, the OP admitted.
The 2025 cent is like the 2019 2020 W quarters. Get them when you can. True a roll is just 50 cents, if you can find them - just like the West point Quarters. When they are gone, they are gone.

By the way, don't ever accuse me of nitpicking. You are officially the King of Nits.
We're not talking about proofs.
But sure, you may be able to find some 2025 cents at "banks" even though no one has. Hence the current prices. Since people are paying $70 a roll, you should go down to your local bank and buy up all they have and sell them on ebay.
Actually, you must care and that's why you are posting about it. I applaud you for trying to protect people from themselves. I gave you a "like." I wish you had a bigger platform to preach from so you could reach more collectors.
The OP mentioned (mocked) the price of the proofs which is why I included them. And the OP himself mentioned the bank.
Where did the ebay sellers get them?
Thanks. But, no, I really don't care how anyone spends their money. But I think we all know that anyone buying into the hype will overpay. And this might be a new record. When people were hot for W quarters because "there were only 2 million" out was one thing. When people were hot for the Mirgan dollars because there were only 250k, it was another. But we've reached a brand new level where we are hot for a coin because there's ONLY A BILLION!!!
Wrong. There are 595 million.
Lol... and still minting...
Not since Feb 10th. Hence all the hullabaloo.
Actually, that's unclear. The Executive order was issued then but the mintage jumped significantly in February. Hard to imagine they minted more cents in 10 days than in all of January.
The Mint has to mint the cents if customers order them, regardless of the EO.
And one way or the other, there's still MORE THAN HALF A BILLION OF THEM!!
Minted and delivered are two different things. They're monetized (counted) when delivered.
Statement it bold is 100% wrong.
I disagree. The Mint has to supply coins for commerce. They must fill orders. The only way that statement is "more than 0% wrong" is of the Mint has a giant inventory of cents in inventory already. And if they do have a giant inventory, why are they striking cents already?
The Mint supplies coin for commerce based on what the Federal Reserve orders. Random banks don't order cents from the Mint, only the Fed does that. The Mint isn't required to fulfill Fed orders and the Fed confirmed that their orders are at the discretion of the Treasury (Mint). So, any "requirement" to deliver cents just because the Fed places and order, is 100% wrong.
