Which grading company gets the most return?

Hi all, looking to sell some of my Gretzky and Jordan cards from the 1980's. If selling, what is the best grading company to get the highest return? I know PSA traditionally commands higher returns, but has anything changed in the last few years? BGS, SGC, etc.?

Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

This was already answered for you in the previous thread you started:

You are not going to get a different answer as its easily provable fact that it's PSA.

I have two Topps Gretzky Topps rookies and one Jordan Fleer 1986 rookie. Thinking of getting them graded to sell, but not sure if it is best to go with PSA or another company. Any thoughts or advice? Just looking to get the best price as I am definitely selling them and I know there are a lot of opinions out there about grading.....PSA, CGC, Beckett, etc.

The answer is only PSA if you are guaranteed the same grade with them that you would get from any other company. The truth is it doesnt work that way. Often PSA grades lower than another company. Some people here love that and think the increasing strictness is neat and the new grading standards are truth and the old standards are now wrong. Some people think the new stricter grading standards absolutely suck and kind of make the whole point of third party grading borderline pointless.

If your cards are elite players from the 80s I think the grading on your cards will be harsher and stricter than you would expect coming from PSA. Just cause great grades are not handed out very readily on excellent cards these days. For whatever reason. POP control. Fear of repercussions with an overgrade on an important card that the graders superiors might react to.

If they are very valuable cards in excellent condition, where doubling up on the grading fees with both SGC and PSA is not prohibitive, I'd say try both if you are not pleased with the first grade received. I wouldn't be surprised if SGC gave you a half or full grade higher. But probably only if its cracked out and raw. I dont think SGC will give you a big bump on a crossover anymore now that PSA is the parent company of SGC.

I would say for the Gretzky cards dont do BGS. People will assume they were chosen because the cards are sheet cut.

If you post some pics people here can probably give you a ballpark of value and potential grades received.

Ulyssess has hit gold with the above post. I haven't used cgc yet, but I am thinking of using them just to see how it goes. So a 1975 Nolan ryan psa 6 or 1975 nolan ryan cgc 7.5? If the card looks it, then the cgc would sell for more every time I would imagine.

AVOID CGC submitting and purchasing! IMHO if not PSA, than so much better to have that card in a SGC slab rather than CGC. Reality and hobby perception of CGC (aka CSG) is Junk/Garbage/Trash Slabber status, much lower than the now gone GAI. The growing Pokeman scandal has 100% completely poisoned CGC to any serious hobbyist.
