Not graded yet but this is my current favorite.
Here is one of many, this from the first year:
When I saw the title of this thread, I was expecting to see a pic of PT-109.

I think that was on mchales island this am. Some congresswoman from Massachusetts was looking for a war hero in the area. She picked the crew of the 109 for war bond drive. The rest is history 🙂
A popular coin and design, too bad the Ikes are not as much so. I recently read a bunch of Kennedy biographies.

Kennedys are my quest...
I hear this kinda of stuff whenever Ike’s are mentioned but for me they sell better than my Kennedys. Wonder if it has anything to do with CAC.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.
My only graded example for type purposes, I have a few raw half's in an album somewhere. I overpaid a bit but I do like the tone.

Here is the 1961 inaugural medal in silver. They sold so many of these that they sold for melt for quite a long time.

Thanks for the post 2windy2fish! Here are some other coins from that same set.

DELETE.
Obtained by my mother's cousin who had the pleasure of meeting JFK at Iowa Jackson Day Dinner.

Here is a tribute to JFK's OTHER boat. It's a tie clip from the 1960 campaign.
As much as it is common knowledge among members of my generation, it is surprising how few people under the age of say....50 (certainly 40), if asked what "PT-109" signifies, have no idea.

There was a 1963 movie (PT 109) made about Kennedy and PT-109 starting Clift Robertson among other famous stars. It was based on Kennedy's book. Worth watch if you get the chance.

Jon - My wife and I were fortunate to have had the opportunity to have sailed on the Honey Fitz in October 2023. Here are six of the many photos I took, followed by my two favorite Kennedy Half Dollars.

I find it a bit ironic that at first glance I truly thought that David Hall's signature on the PCGS insert was that of Secret Service Agent Clint Hill.

Maybe their signatures are so much alike due to a rumor I heard that their offices are so very close to each other - that David’s office is “just down the Hall.” 😂

Gorgeous 68s you have there I have to imagine these were finds while on your full steps search.
They were. Not only is the toning super but the coin is graded a 66 and PQ at that. I really think it should be a 67. It is just nearly as nice as the 67 I did make. I do have 1 more with great toning in a super raw set that I have. I should get it graded before it goes bad with the toning getting stronger.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I Agree it should be a 67 but toning will recoup those costs anyway. It's tough to get a 67 lately I'm hoping this one will. It is absolutely hammered and toned sitting halfway out of the cellophane in the envelope when I found it. Someone must've dropped a box too hard for it to pop out but the cellophane was ratty.
Or maybe this one.
