I bought a Vault Box once. Once.
Is this Vault Box still a thing?
How do others feel about it?
I'd like to know too.

They all love it. Especially on the east coast.
I detected some sarcasm in @JBK's post. It's already been discussed to death. He can tell me if I'm wrong.
I am more interested in what the fellow dealer didn't get. Any idea?

Then you might also note the sarcasm in my post, or perhaps you forget who the east coast loud mouth was on those prior threads
I didn't read 95% of them.
Ah... then you wouldn't get the joke
What’s vaultbox?
It's something that should have been left alone. Seems it opens up a can of worms more then anything 🤢
Curious...how much do these cost? I just done some reading on their website and it does not disclose the cost.
Series 9 was $995 with a limit of 3 per household. SOLD OUT.
Kinda like playing the lottery.

Different issues have different prices.
I’ve heard many of the boxes are filled with disappointment, but I do not have first hand experience.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
@oih82w8 It's not kind of like playing the lottery, it's exactly like playing the lottery.
And yes, @P0CKETCHANGE , may of the boxes were filled with disappointment...
But then again some were not....
@lermish at least with this Vaultbox thing you get a coin that's worth something. That is not always the case with a lottery...sometimes you don't win a thing other than a bookmark of your failed attempt.![:'( :'(](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/cry.png)

Hey West Coast loudmouth! 🤪
Please explain why VaultBox is not allowed to be discussed but Witterbrick was deemed valid by you and NJCoin...so much so that you two agreed to settle your feud and became allies?🤔

is the thrill the real product?
I was never opposed to VB. I was arguably its most vocal defender
I'm also on the East Coast btw
Yes.
A card store recently opened in town. About all they do are box breaks.
Have you seen joeykoins lately? Nope. He stopped gambling on coins sweepstakes and started doing box breaks.
For people that like the thrill they are great. For people that are afraid they will "lose", they really need to stay away
Nope. The Internet is where sarcasm went to die.

I'd never buy a VaultBox product, but I like watching openings on YouTube. I find them entertaining.
Does anyone else do this?
I don’t gamble, ‘specially the unregulated type. So I got nothin’.
obw roll searches are cheap
did he get entirely burned on coins?
Interesting how you feel you were the MOST vocal defender...🙄
Doesn't surprise me....
I saw that you had made a thread on the BST selling these VB 9 boxes.....how did you do?
To err is human,to gamble is divine
I was the one fighting with NJ while you had us both on ignore. But if you want to call yourself that, go ahead. I have no desire to be right if argumentative. You certainly started the most threads. I did say "arguably", but you may read right past that if you want. I'm not sure why you're picking a fight with me. Doesn't surprise anyone.
No. He's a true gambler. He only recalls the wins. He was playing YouTube races constantly and always posted the "wins" and never discussed the losses. Now he's having fun with card breaks and I'm sure all just counting the wins. But it's what he enjoys. I hope he's having fun.
I would be impressed if they had CACs.
PCGS, NGC and CACG all have deals with different providers.
I think stickers would be tricky because NGC would have to send the coins to CAC and then the presumption would be that any unstickered coin failed CAC. People have sent them in themselves to CAC.
Jeff Garrett posted on the NGC website.
"The VaultBoxes, which are graded by NGC, have become quite popular and are now in their 9th edition. The latest one is touting the "$100,000 Hit," the chance to pull a 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 gold coin graded NGC MS 64."

No he did not. 🤑🤑🤑🤑
They do, green and gold.
EDIT: @jmlanzaf I successfully stickered a pattern I won last year.
well i hope he's opening rolls too. cheap thrills
That's interesting. I wonder if they sent all eligible coins to CAC or just a select few. Or maybe they crossed coins that were already CAC when acquired????
Congratulations on the pattern.
I do think it is fun. I also think it is incredibly popular. Mystery boxes and the like run 24/7 on Whatnot. Some are cheap $20 or so. Others tin $1000 or more. But they are popular across multiple different hobbies: cards, coins, comics...
I may run some some day for fun.
My guess was that they purchased NGC holdered stickered coins and got them re-stickered once in the VB holders. Even if they get a discounted bulk rate, I don't think it makes sense for the organizers to send in 1000 coins worth $250-500 for stickering.
Agreed
Yes we have some. I haven’t opened them yet. Usually we sell but my staff does want me to open If I do I’ll make a video and show and tell.
Well hopefully this thread will last. When VB1, and the next couple versions were released, I tried to have a discussion about them several times but there were many members who hijacked the thread to debate the merits of gambling vs. collecting and the threads were either closed or extinguished.🙄
Good luck!😎
The Indian cent is processed. The Barber Half is AU58.
Do not be disappointed on resale, owner.
VaultBox offers a guaranteed buy back price which is usually very close to greysheet pricing
so you don't get stuck with a coin.
Here is what I got:
Yup, that's it.
Those coins will be booted around more than the football in tomorrow's game.
Wasn't there complaining amongst dealers that overgraded coins were deflating pricing and ruining value stability long term?
One thing you can be sure of is that coin dealers will always be complaining about something.
That's a pretty extreme downgrade prediction even considering they were graded by NGC.
The motivations and incentives to assemble a game, with all of the promotional and marketing costs involved, will long term negatively affect the valuation, pricing integrity and interest level of rare coins.
Not a fan.
And yet VB has sold out 9 times in a row....🤑🤑🤑🤑
too many coins extant and too few VB players to affect coin market. i just see some potential collectors being burned out of the hobby
And I see new collectors being brought in to the market as well to start a new hobby.😉
