A Challenge
A common sentiment expressed by a lot of members recently is that these forums have generally gone downhill - too much of the "same old" if you will.
As such, I'd like to extend the following challenge.
Either reply to this thread or start a new thread about something numismatically related that does at least one or more of the following:
1) Develops a numismatic idea/thesis
2) Contains original and new source documents pertaining to an already existing topic
3) Corrects/revisits an old topic that has not been deeply researched
4) Explains a story you have had in numismatics and relates it to how that can impact more than just you numismatically
Examples could be:
1) A history of Matte Proof gold as it developed in the eyes of collectors (hated to loved).
2) A documents approach to the "CAL" quarter eagles.
3) Work related to medals/colonials/coppers/territorial gold/under researched US coins, etc.
4) There's a wide range of acceptable things here.
I will determine a winner if more than 15 people choose to participate, and the winner will get a choice of 10 or more free photo sets or a couple other options that I will provide at the winner's discretion (silver eagles, etc.). I and others will judge based on how much we feel your work provides something new and interesting to the world of numismatics. The more exceptional the work, the more exceptional the prize.
Best of luck, and I can't wait to see what some of you come up with!
Coin Photographer.

Challenge met but it's an old thread that I brought TTT for you.
Nice idea! And, because it's a contest/giveaway, I feel it's different than another recent request to bring up old threads.
I really enjoyed @Maywood /Keet's Eutopia dollar thread the first time it came around and do this time also.
Maybe another member will recall who it was that collected Half-Dimes and researched the provenance of each coin prior or soon after he acquired them. The collection was awesome and the threads detailing the "trail" were really good. I'm think it was @Realone but I'm not sure. They would be a good to read as a group. I really admire those among us who have the patience, knowledge and skill to research things.
1000 words?
That may narrow the number of contributions.
The idea is to get threads going that actually make a difference on the forum. It's not a hard and fast rule but more of a suggestion (develop your ideas).

If I can do one about vintage coin albums, I’d be up for it. But whenever I write about them, only a few people are interested. Doesn’t matter to me, for whatever reason I never get tired or bored about them, but not sure if there is enough interest from the forum members to go all out about them like that
Mr_Spud
I would enjoy reading your contribution about the vintage coin albums.
You might be speaking of the gentleman by the name of Steve Crain, who posted here as “MrHalfDime”. He was a most fastidious collector and a wonderful guy.
Here’s a link to his forum profile: https://forums.collectors.com/profile/MrHalfDime
Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
Unfortunately, MrHalfDime, Steve Crain, passed away several years ago. I was fortunate to obtain 87 half dimes from his collection as it was dispersed after his passing. Photos of his Liberty Seated Half Dimes are available for viewing on the Newman Numismatic Portal (https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/imagecollection/514182), along with what remains of his notes on those coins. As I like to point out from time to time, @yosclimber has been working on better die marriage & die state guides. I had been spending some time on the Liberty Seated boards until a year or two ago, sharing what I was finding. Perhaps I could take up the present challenge with a summary of some of that. But I always seem to be too busy to be able to set aside enough time for that kind of effort.

One-thousand words? Just disagree with @NJCoin about the 2024 FH gold mintage and watch him go!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
It narrow me down. I'm not back in college.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
Guys, a reminder that the 1000 words is just a suggestion.
I've removed it to avoid confusion from now on.

Thanks for the chance. What kind of a toll is mint glut taking? What's the limit. Has anyone ever figured out what it would cost to purchase one of every mint product released in a calendar year? It used to not be terribly difficult to do it. Without looking how many different quarters have there been since the state quarters came out? Too many releases.
@Ikeie accused me of being Alan AKA (?) Realtone's alt. Apparently he was banned. Was he a real troll? It sounds like he was a positive collector.
Found this 1963 D over D mm dime in pocket change about a year ago.
I put it aside and forgot where she was for over a year, as I needed to follow up with photo's. Found it last week.
She looks not a day old except for what looks like the March of Dimes logo in the olive leaf branch's. (arrow)
Lol, I get it ........but the image is too perfect.
Will this image effect her looks. (researching)
Can I use this thread as my entry where I’m researching how to accurately know which dates the different Wayte Raymond National Coin Albums were made by their logos? Heres a link to the thread https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1109445/want-to-see-my-new-t-shirt-with-the-original-wayte-raymond-national-coin-album-logo-on-it#latest
Or is that one too rabbit-hole-like because it started as one thing and then turned into something else where I figured out how to accurately date them, and because it is still a work in progress
I think it qualifies, because it furthers David Lange’s research he did for his book, but contains new information.
Mr_Spud
I would personally consolidate it into one post, and maybe do a new thread with everything in one place.
Coin Photographer.
Ok, when it’s a bit further along, I’ll consolidate it
Mr_Spud
Mr Spud, after reading various threads lately and one in particular you were featured wearing a tee-shirt in, would it trouble you if I referred to you as Mr. Stud?
Here’s chapter 1 of the “ consolidation” https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1109940/the-national-coin-album-binders-invented-by-john-schade-the-national-blank-book-co-date-of-logos
