Not one but TWO accidental coin purchases
I have heard similar stories before but never considered it happening to me.
When fall hits in the mountains around here, you better be getting ready for snow. The wife, kids and I have been like busy bees running around getting projects done. We winterized the boat and camper, hauled our massive dead tree/branch pile away, made a new parking area, and started staining our cedar boards to side the house (hopefully before the snow). In the mix of these projects, my 6-year-old asked if we could listen to some music on my phone while we worked. I agreed, put the music on, placed the phone in my back pocket, and returned to work. Well sometime in between jamming out to David Crowder and Third Day I heard a familiar notification go off but ignored it. A while later there was another notification and I pulled my phone out to see Ebay's thank you for your purchase page and my heart sank. The sound I was hearing was my "Order Shipped" twinkle ding on my phone.
It appears that in the mix of my crawling under trucks to change the oil or just shaking my hips to the music, I managed to purchase a random Morgan Dollar and a $20 Saint Gaudens! Neither was a great deal but both are at least graded.
I have this motto I have run by, I don't return coins unless they are fake. Even if I don't care for it, I just keep it and sell it myself instead of returning it. So I was met with a decision, decided I'd live with my purchase and probably put them in my son's safe with a note of how they were bought. That's one way to add to his inheritance.
I did get to thinking later that I got off pretty easy. Imagining all the possibilities that I could have purchased made me sweat a little. After telling my wife we had a good long much-needed laugh and then a "but that better not happen again".

An additional reason of why I do not allow eBay the direct ability to access my payment accounts.
I am the only one who can authorize a payment. NO AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS ALLOWED BY 3RD PARTIES!
If you have not read the fine print on eBays "make an offer", you should as it contains a statement that allows (authorizes) them to directly deduct the offer price from your account, immediately if the seller agrees to your offer.
I have also had items added to my cart that were awaiting payment that I did not put there. The tell was that the item was one that I would never have an interest in or let alone purchase.

You must have bid at some time didn't you?
Last week I got an offer for an item because 'I have shown interest'. The thing is, I do not remember ever looking at that item or similar or from that seller. I do not think my account has been hacked.
Much like @WAYNEAS ... automatic payment AINT happening. But then, I don't use eBay on my phone either. Tablet or Desk/Laptops only.
You are fortunate though. Real coins and hopefully not crap you can enjoy or sell for close to what you paid.

No never bid on them, was a buy it now purchase. Not sure if both got added to my cart and then I checked out at the same time or if it was separate.
I was wondering if the two items were from the same seller?
The reason that I know that I did not add the items into my cart was due to the fact that they were raw coins which I will never buy off the internet.
The items in my cart, were from the same seller.

These were from different sellers.
This is stunning.

I am prone to an occasional butt call also.
I am old so I need clarifcation on how butt calls can add two different items from different sellers into your cart.
You need to change so many different pages to add the second item and then go back to your cart to say purchase these items.
Yes / No?

Wait until you do it, calling your boss, while at the same time discussing with a fellow co-worker about that particular boss’s alcoholism and how it’s putting everyone in danger. That was an interesting event. 🤦♂️
No more Siri after that for me.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
When you click add to cart, ebay pops up suggested listings right after or "compare with similar items". I'm assuming that's how 2 items got into the cart? All speculation, all I know is I am now the owner of 2 coins that I most certainly did not intend to purchase.
1) I hope they are real.
2) I hope that you get them.
3) Let us know!

Positive it was on my phone though.

I'm still not understanding how someone could accidently buy two coins off eBay. Had you been drinking when it happened?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

@Torey. I would still like to know how this happens. In two weeks a medical issue is forcing me to get a smart phone. Is this something the phone does? Was there some kind of APP involved? James
Small update, i had to order a new phone. Looks like keeping it in your back pocket steadily while working is hard on it. Now any slight bend on the phone makes the touch sensor react and click on random things insanely fast. Probably didn't help that I dropped it a few months ago and fractured the back.
Lesson learned!
If you accidentally bought the coins even though you paid for them it would have made the most sense to cancel the sale before the seller began the shipping process and gotten a refund. Everything is potentially returnable on eBay and I think this would have been the best option for you and the seller.
This is a fun story and I appreciate you telling it! I do mysterious things with technology too sometimes and I'm glad I'm not the only one. Enjoy your coins and treasure your wife - she laughed and didn't give you a hard time. She's a keeper.

"The most sense" for my personal best interest but not the sellers, they didn't have any involvement with my screwup and were probably excited about a full-price sale on a best-offer item. They packaged the coins and created a shipping label promptly. In my first post, I noted that the sound I heard twice was once they marked it as shipped, I didn't catch it before that. Just something I felt like I needed to deal with on my own.
How refreshing to hear of someone owning their mistake instead of whining how so and so or such and such a situation is unfair. Its called self-responsibility and my hat is off to you.
Wished I would have “accidentally” won the two beautiful Barbers I bid on this weekend!
Either I’m not the best bidder at auctions or a tad bit too conservative?
Thankfully I’ve taken a saying that I learned on the boards here and put it into practice. It goes something like this, if you miss a beautiful coin, eventually another will come by. Wise fellow.
