@Doug2123
To possibly help you on this and other stuff. There is a resources thread pinned to the top of the US forum (link below also).
The references are in the firs post of the first page (OP).
In it there are some error references and one is linked below. For this go to the Striking Errors (or do a search in it).

If it was double struck, the unusual area would have a round edge.
Instead, it looks like it was caught between two rectangular objects.
This could easily be done with a hammer and vise or anvil; a dime is mostly copper which is softer than steel.
Listing for the OP coin on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/395716060539
The description is fraudulent; the coin is not an error of any kind.
OP: is that your listing on ebay?
None of the coins being sold by that ebay user are errors. The descriptions calling them errors are false.
@Doug2123 Are you saying that you are "akghay0" on eBay? All of the "error" coins listed are damaged garbage; hard to believe that people are actually buying this trash!

ahh, yes, the old "occluded gas bubble" error. I had one of those, but I took pepto-bismol and that took care of it.

Funny how people who know nothing about errors seem to know the lingo pretty well.

Not my listing. I screenshotted the pics to see if it was worth buying.
Thx for clarifying.
Not worth buying, and neither is anything else that seller has listed.
If you're serious about coin collecting. Stay away from error coins until you understand the minting process. That coin is obviously damaged to even novice collectors. If it wasn't obvious to you then you need to spend the next year reading and learning. If I were you, I'd get an album and start filling it up from circulation. That's where you need to start.
That is very good advice if @Doug2123 is serious and has the right mindset.
That being said, I worry that perhaps the Morgan dollar that he posted earlier has given him unrealistic expectations. People without any knowledge do not normally find valuable coins by accident and make a profit on them. The Morgan dollar was a rare fluke and @Doug2123 should consider himself very lucky. If he just wants to make money, but is not serious about coins, he ought to take the profit from the Morgan dollar and quit while he is ahead.
Doug,
If you want to collect true error coins, then I would recommend only buying those that are graded or at least in a "Genuine" holder. I look at Ebay several times per day and can tell you that 99.9% of the raw coins on Ebay that are advertised as "error" coins, simply are NOT - they are damaged. (Hence, not valuable at all)
