Here it is September of 2024 and I STILL have NOT received my 2023 Registry Awards and or pins. My last 2 e-mails to PCGS inquiring about this have went unanswered.

Things have really went down hill with this program and if PCGS doesn't care about it anymore then they should just shut the whole registry down.

Don't offer awards if you aren't going to send them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is very disappointing !!!!!!!

Basically, you will not find out as it seems there is no communication at all.

FYI: The 2023 award banners were not posted to registry sets until around the 22nd of November.
So it is a wait and see game.
Best of luck to us all.

Perhaps this is PCGS's way of quiet quitting/ending the program. :#

I just gave up and retired several of my #1 top modern registry sets that I have had for more than 15 years which were eligible for gold or platinum awards again. Just no corporate support for the registry, and I don't get any enjoyment from it anymore. Can't get simple things fixed even when I ask or describe the specific problems in their database multiple times. There used to be some top-quality, friendly people. Sadly, I think maybe they all left, or they have been told to ignore us or have their emails blocked.

Yesterday marks 9 calendar weeks that they've had my current "World Express" submission -- and it's still in the "Encapsulation" stage. My last World Express was back in my hand in two weeks flat. They responded to me after I think 3? days, but here most of a week later, there's been no status change. However, they DID send out a "how did we do" survey... If they actually bother reading it, I imagine they'll regret asking.

OK, so I received my 2024 Gold Registry Set Award Certificate that I had not requested because the set has no ICON attached to it noting that it was a winner. The award is much appreciated.

So did they do away with the Registry pins that were awarded 2 years ago?

So will certs be available for 2024 Best of Registry Set winners? Will these need to be requested?

BUT still no word of awards for my 2023 sets. :(

OK, I finally got to speak to the guy in charge of the awards.

    Here is the low down:

Paper awards for "The Best of the Registry" sets have been discontinued. No paper awards certs for 2023 forward.

Only "Gold Award Winners" will receive paper certs.

He promised to mail me my pins for 2023 but that is the last year for the pins as well, no 2024 pins just the paper award for "Gold Award Winners" maybe Platinum Certs and 10 year,,,,,, I didn't think to ask about those as I don't have any coming. NO pins.

Not what I wanted to hear,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Loose translation - PCGS simply does not care about the Set Registry anymore, we've seen that writing on the wall for a few years now. When a SHEET OF PAPER is too much effort to exert, we know they've completely given up. The Set Registry is literally the ONLY reason I've maintained my personal PCGS membership, and I can say with 100% certainty that the Set Registry also is the sole reason that London Coin got an $800 sale a couple weeks ago (they treated me great, for whatever it's worth) -- It's a shame that PCGS refuses to see any value in this portion of their business. :(

My sense is they did away with certs for #1 sets not gold or higher, and pins (even though it was a max of one per collector for #1 sets) is because of PCGS’s choice to reduce Set Registry manpower from three or more people to apparently only one person? So it’s not the expense of the paper or plastic pins, but one person doing everything that’s needed to run all of tasks with the Set Registry just can’t cut it! Regardless, they did reduce expenses too by having done away with the plaques a couple of years ago, so apparently the bean counters are alive and well, and having a field day!

I just noticed today that D. L. Hansen has started to retire his PCGS sets.
I wonder how this will effect PCGS's revenue.

I left NGC because I didn't like their points, the way they grade coins and the customer service. Looks like I'll be retiring and getting rid of my PCGS collection because they got rid of their support for the registry, which was my ONLY reason I started collecting coins again. I'll give it till the end of the year, but if it doesn't get fixed by the time my renewal comes due, they will lose a couple of grand/yr in grading fees from me.

Seriously, how big a deal is it to keep up with which sets were #1 after a set date each year and add a little flag next to the name. After all, they posted the announcement letting us all know when the cutoff date was!

I am getting much closer to retiring and selling more of my top sets. Losing all interest in the PCGS registry at this point. Will also stop buying most new offerings from the Mint.

I sent a pricy coin into CACG and got it graded and back in one week, not counting shipping time to get it there. Amazing, and it cost less, too.

My submission to PCGS from October finally was graded after 3 months and they said it was counterfeit. Paid to regrade it there and then it was labelled as the wrong antiqued finish medal and graded details cleaned, because it is a variety without the antique finish.

I am pretty sure when I send it to NGC it will get the correct designation and a real grade. So frustrating.

Just retired my Top 100 Modern Coin set along with my $2.50 and $10 Indian registry sets, and all my top gold eagle sets.

My US Mint Commemorative medal set (link under my posts) still has more than a dozen top coins that do not get gold shading bonuses, and I asked for that to be fixed for 2 years now. This has me frustrated to the point I am now planning to stop collecting entirely and remove all my sets over the next several years.

I sent in more than 1,000 raw medals to get them graded with True Views for that US Mint medal set to document what they look like for posterity. That cost more than $25,000 in grading fees and still no PCGS support to fix the set or even consider it for a gold award when it is filled with extremely low pop medals that are very hard to find. My modern US coin commemorative set has every US commemorative in 70 that exist and also no gold recognition after 7 years at the top.

The registry used to be excellent, allowed new sets to be added to keep it interesting, and had some great support people, but that has become a distant memory. Emilio is excellent, but one person can't do this much work.

Eliminating this registry and coins from my mind will help me reduce stress and maybe help me find more enjoyable activities, but it will still take quite a while to downsize and sell it.

Here's a subtle shot-across-the-bow as a parting gift, if you share my level of pettiness. Before retiring a set, rename them something like "Quitting the hobby because the Registry is BROKEN" -- PCGS may not ever notice -- but others will, at least for top ranking sets. (And since they like leaving top-ranked sets on top forever (like, those who retired in first place when there were only 3 coins in the set, and now there's 20, and the all-time #1 spot STILL only has 3 coins...) -- well, it'll stay there until they finally get off their butts and DO something about it!

The All-Time sets should drop down as new coins are added that they do not have.

It is ridiculous that a set with only 3 coins of 20 required would stay at the top. Just one more example of why this registry has gone downhill.

    Feel your pain.
I can't count how many times that I asked to have these sets removed over the years.
I still have sets that have 2023 coins in them that do not count for the overall ratings.
That little red ampersand drives me nuts.
I also have 2 number one sets that shows up as a number 6 and number 8 in the set ranking lists.
    I just give up.
Emilio can only do so much and when he has had enough with trying to fix all on his own, the death knoll will sound.

It is sad,,,,,,, really sad that the registry has fallen so far.

I am still waiting on pins for 2023 awards that I was promised that would be mailed to me last October and an still waiting for PCGS to fix the add a cert number that should belong to this set link. E-mailing anyone does not get an answer. I can't get them to add current or past years coins to sets that don't already have them.

Just very frustrating that the lack of interest that the "Powers that be" have shown in the registry.

I started this thread in Sept 2024 and so far none on my concerns have been addressed.

    Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more.

Since then, I've submitted 8 coins to CACG. I never would have submitted to any other TPG if not for these issues. So that's $560 not in PCGS' coffers due to this awful situation (as I always submit Express). How many hours of tech support would that $560 pay for?

I'm curious how many other subs have gone to other TPGs because of this.

I spoke with Emilio on October 28, 2024 and he promised to send my pins within 30 days, that was 4 months ago and still NO pins. :s I hope the ill will PCGS has generated with their registry set members is worth the bucks they have saved by letting the registry fall so low.

The LEAST they could do is to post here and say "NO PINS FOR YOU"!!!!!!! as the Soup Nazi would say.
