Possible (new) 2020 "Bat Quarter" error?

Hello - I'm new here and new to the world of coin collecting. Recently I came into posession of a 2020 quarter that, I've been told, has many minting errors that have been discovered since it's release. I did some cursory research (ebay and other sites) but could not find any information on this coin's possible error. A rare coin dealer I contacted in Santa Rosa, CA. told me about this forum. I will post a picture of the face of this coin with the possible error (I realize it might not be a "minting error" but it appears too uniform to be something else...or, maybe it is something else...). Hopefully, by posting a pic here somebody knowledgeable in these things can give me an opinion. Thank you! Dianne

    Welcome to the forum! :)

As mentioned, it's rolling machine damage. :/

As a new collector, you should not be searching random coins for errors. Without any knowledge, you will only find damaged coins. If you want to learn about errors, you need to read about and study errors before searching for any coins.

    Howdy and welcome.

As others have already correctly pointed out, if you are asking about the ring on the obverse then that is called rolling machine damage and common enough that anyone who knows much about coins would identify it immediately. If someone has told you that the damage is an error then they don't know what they don't know.

In the future, it will help everyone if you could explain what you think is an error on any coins you may post since this will help keep the conversation focused and will allow us to avoid guessing. Many times when folks have to guess they either don't guess about what you want to know or you get less helpful answers.

Your images are decent enough and you came to the right place, but if you are looking through change for errors then you are almost certainly wasting your time. Good luck!

"Hopefully, by posting a pic here somebody knowledgeable in these things can give me an opinion."

And... you got respectful answers as you were hopeful for, from knowledgeable individuals who have seen this type of damage many time before.

"Woah! Damaged, snarky coin dudes...having fun in your little clubhouse, boys?"

After that reply, nothing more I need to say. Well, maybe one comment/question: is the handle photo one of you? If so, perhaps that explains a lot.

This forum has many of the foremost experts in the field. Posting asking for help, but not accepting the help and getting snarky yourself... perhaps another social forum would be more appropriate for you.

A good example of why I mostly gave up posting to threads from new members. :/

It is damaged. We're very sorry that you wanted a different answer.

Initially at first glance I entertained the idea of a major clashed die due to the reverse design, but it does look like rolling machine damage.

They posted right when the forum glitch hit. ;)
I would guess they thought it was not posting.

Perhaps you are an alt or a troll.... with nothing better to do? I noticed you became a member? only 3 days before posting with photos..... I thought new members had to wait longer before being able to post photos, thus my suspecting this is an alt?
