It is called “ the ring of death” caused by a coin roller/ wrapping machine.
You will find them on the end coins on rolls. Just damage.

The crimping machine on the machines that crimp the ends of paper coin rolls. Spend it and welcome. You can learn a lot hanging out here and most of it is factual. :)

    Welcome to the board.

A few years ago my young teenage son asked the same query about a 2015 Kisatchie ATB quarter and would not accept my answer of PMD (Post Mint Damage) from a roller machine.

So told him to ask on a forum and he chose reddit, posted exact similar coin and got really scathing answers from a few folks which made him research a lot more on his own as well as listening to voice of reason.

Similarly, he was mighty convinced that he had struck gold when he found a 1964 PR 70 Lincoln Penny in an ICG slab for $20 at a pawn shop when he was fifteen.

Convinced me to give him the money as an early birthday present and bought the coin, then learnt it the hard way that it was worth diddly squat. Props to him though because he eventually sold it for a profit of $5 later on and learnt many valuable lessons in the process.

My point being - be patient, stick around and learn more - saying this because I saw your response on the other thread which got locked.

    Cheers.

Too bad the mods closed the thread with the OP/troll’s rant!

She didn’t like the dealers take on the coin. Argued with him and he sent her here. I blame the dealer
