Next step when a coin you own is denied entry in your inventory by the previous owner?

Kind of annoying, yet I can't find a solution.
I have a coin, in hand, that I am attempting to add to my inventory.
It shows up in another collector's inventory.
No big deal. I've seen this before. You place an inventory removal request and the other person
either removes it or PCGS will do so after a few days.
Well, instead I am greeted with an email stating my request is denied (with a big red X).
I can only surmise the other collector is claiming to still own the coin.
I am not sure where to send photos/proof of ownership or whatnot as since the request is denied there is no follow-up window I see to contest this conclusion.
If you have encountered this before and have a possible solution I'd love to hear it.
Thanks!

When u put in the removal request you have the ability to upload 2 images .. one obv and a 1 for reverse. Take a photo with a item dated in the background .. I use the PCGS or Grey sheet catalog that is mailed to me but u can use a utility bill or anything like that. No distbuting then and PCGS always transfer it over

That is my issue and problem.
I did a request without the photos.
Now that it is denied there is no recourse that is visible to me to contest the decision of denial- including now offering photos as proof.

Sorry, Pat, I can't let you register the coin for your set...so I will continue to deny the request.

That sounds like a system issue. Maybe try creating a new, temporary set so that you can submit the request to transfer it again, including the images upfront. Then after that's approved, transfer it from the intermediate set to your actual set.
Or I suppose you could probably call them but I'm one to try a thousand alternate options before picking up a phone
Can u Just start over ... just be sure that you do not have a counterfeit Holder and stollen cert number

I tried starting over.
It simply doesn't go through.
No results when the screen refreshes and it isn't in my inventory.
Lesson learned. Even though I've had 100% success submitting requests without photos- now that I know if you don't and your request in denied by the original owner (for whatever bizarre reason) you have no recourse.

Email Paulina @ setregistry and explain to her what the problem is and include dated pics of the obverse and reverse of the coin. She will look into it
It happened to me a long time ago and I proved that I owned the coin with dated pics and it get fixed
Man I hate it when this happens and it happens a lot!
Good luck

Also,
When you send the pics she will then contact the current owner to verify that he has the coin by asking for pics from him/her

So good! Thanks for this terrific advice.
I will do exactly that.
Oh, and don't be too tough on Tom, there is no way in heck he would even own a lowly mid-grade Kennedy half...

Maybe not on the Kennedy but I sure would like to have some of his dimes

Been there, done that. Same problem a couple years ago. As it was a weekend, On Monday I followed up the rejection on my removal request with a phone call and dated pictures. Next day our hosts came through. Not sure why the previous owner would deny the request as he sold the thing. After a bit of snooping ( it was a 7/1 coin ) I was able to find out the previous owner as it was still listed in his set. Refrained from emailing him directly as I didn't want to create more problems. I just wish our hosts would address this continuing problem of sellers not releasing the coin after it was sold. PITA.
Let's see if this works!
Email sent. . . photos attached...

That was almost immediate. PCGS fixed this and the coin is added to my set.
Exemplary performance by PCGS!

Whenever I have a Registry issue I contact Paulina. She always takes care of whatever the problem is. Unfortunately, it almost always involves a previous owner not releasing a sold coin from their set/inventory.

I’ve done that for a few coins in the past, no problem. Now I have 30 more coins that won’t post because Simpson has not removed them from his set, and I’d rather wait than do more work.
I also have 50+ raw coins on hold, because I figure it’s better to wait for pcgs to get its imaging back up to speed. So I’m pretty much going to be on a registry vacation for a while, I think.

My observation has been that who ever manages the Simpson Registry ... they never proactivetly releases them. I must own about 20 to 30 Simpson pieces and whether I picked them up directly at Heritage autions or from 3 rd parties 3 years later ... I still have to send photos with every request. I have it down to a sicence now so it is not much work. Never had a backlog of 30 but the1 or 2 every few months.
I would think that since PCGS will add a piece to their auction archive shortly after being sold at auctions that they could automatically remove it from any existing registry. Sounds easy to me with a little programing.

Rocket science this is not, folks. You sell your coin, you liberate it from your registry set. It is literally that simple.
A kindergartner knows this, so you big kids should too.
I tried to enter a coin this week and it was denied. I sent a removal request to PCGS, and it was removed in 2 minutes. Kudos to PCGS.
I have started checking PCGS cert numbers of coins in auctions to see if cert number legit, PCGS price guide value, if a trueview and if registered in set (if it is I lower my max bid).
FWIW, I don't release the cert until the coin is sold, at that point I do go in and release it

I just purchased two coins tonight from an online dealer, and a check of the certs shows them both in someone's private inventory. I guess when they arrive I'll be using the information in this thread. Lol!

If you already paid for them then it's ok to start the process in PCGS and send out a request for removel
Good luck

The website shows "on hold" after my purchase. I opted to mail out a check today to avoid fees. I'll just wait until the coins are in hand and I can take the required photos. The coins are from a PCGS set that was retired back in March. I'm hoping that it won't mess up the previous owner's All Time Finest rank when ownership transfers to me.

Don't be shy.
Hackers suck.
All good, but 1st when you get the coins put the request in.
IF the owner retired his set this will not affect his/her set rating

I bought a coin on eBay a week ago. It has not arrived yet but tracking shows in mail. I went to add to my set and someone put it in their set ( I am pretty sure I checked when I did BIN and was not in any sets). When it gets to me, I will start process
WOW, haven't seen that happen before. Are you saying that when you looked at the coin (cert lookup) and before you bought it , it didn't show that it was in someones registry set?
Interesting

Possible someone copied the cert # off the eBay auction ?
I suspect so, but do not know for sure. There are some ? kids ? that like making sets from phantom coins they have never owned.
@braddick
Glad it got resolved! I just feel like posting two Kennedys in your honor since I don't really collect these.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
I received the coins today and sent a photo of them with today's newspaper to Paulina and when I checked the certification numbers 20 minutes later, they were already clear and waiting for me to add them to my inventory.

I just won a coin on GC. I asked the seller who advertised it in the BST to remove it. They said they just got it graded and never entered it into a set and a person must have seen a picture of it on the internet. I left a comment on the set it is on (I hope I was not too harsh) ->
Nice set. You do realize you are supposed to own all these coins, not just see a picture of them on the internet?
I hope this doesn't happen again because the only one who ever helped out "Paulina" is GONE

Unless something has changed, she's still with the company, just not working with the registry. As of 3 weeks ago
Yes, gone from the registry, the only one who made a difference
