I received a message from the wife of former board member and MPL collector @curly, Jack Slattery, that he passed away May 24th. One of the best men I knew…..always a gentleman with a smile and good word for every one. He never met a stranger.
RIP Brother

Oh man. That is sad. I remember his posts here.
May he rest in peace.
Curly was a sweet soul.

This is sad. I truly enjoyed every interaction I ever had with him. And for what it's worth, he sold me the coin that's remained in my personal inventory for longer than any other, alas the only coin I saved from my old set. Here it is:

RIP to a coin brother.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
Sounds like a great guy.
RIP Curly.
Wish I was around to interact with him, RIP to a fellow coin brother.

Dammit... this one is brutal. Curly consulted with me years ago when I built my MPL sets... this one hurts the feel goods.
May the Lord bring peace to his wife and Family!
RIP Brother

Sad news, I remember reading some of his posts, but I don’t believe we ever had much interaction.
RIP
Besides the 1912 posted earlier by @renomedphys this was my favorite of Jack’s MPL set. It has been upgraded to 66+RB since this photo was taken 16 years ago.

Sad. Do we know what he had been up to the last 9 years? I was just wondering where he had gone off to. Inactive, it appears, since November 2015.

He, his wife and pet chihuahua moved from Ohio to Alabama. Over the period of a couple of years he sold his collection and was involved in a few rentals he still owned in Ohio. His last few years he worked part time at a Publix store close to his home and tinkered around the house until the doctors visits took over. He deserved better but you would never hear a complaint from him.

His last comment to the boards was "Thank you" to @TomB
That was 2015, and he just left and never came back. Perhaps the collecting bug flew away.
RIP, curly. May heaven be hopping with blues guitars.
