1989-D design variety or DDR?

I don't yet have the Cherry Pickers Guide, but I did look at variety vista at 1989 & 1989-D for either a design variety where the "E" in "AMERICA" had a serif or similar looking DDR but didn't find anything that looked similar.

Here is the reverse. The serif "E" can be seen with the naked eye on "AMERICA"
Not being on Variety Vista should tell you something.........
It appears to be a ‘hit’ or contact Mark
On the “E“ – look at the letter next to it - the R – there’s a hit there, too
It’s not a serif or design change – it’s a circulation mark.

I agree, just damage from taking a hit.
Edit. Sorry. I misread your response
I'm too new to know. I just started, my apologies. Does that mean I should send this in as a new variant to be attributed?
Yes, send it in. It's called tuition.
Nice, sick burn
Thanks @FredWeinberg and @Greenstang
Your input definitely helps
If you are truly interested in learning, focus on the known varieties. You may want to buy some cheap ones to study. Under good magnification, you will begin to notice the attributes of the "real deal" vs the imaginary.
Good luck

It is not worth the cost of sending in this coin.
The coin is the dreaded PMD (Post Mint Damage) and not an undiscovered variety.

Kennedys are my quest...
Stick to ebay and known varieties you can see...
If you need a microscope it probably has little collector value.
