1982 West African States 5000 CFA. Commemorates the 20th anniversary of the confederation. This is frequently found in silver but much less common - mintage TWELVE! - when struck in gold. Weighs 1.40+ oz of gold. The figure which is figuratively a fish is a version of the weights used in measuring West African Gold! Graded at hosts in Specimen 68......
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
The owner of an ex-Bass Pan Pac $50 octagonal allowed me to hold and photograph it at a show last spring. I'll refrain from posting my pics for various reasons, but I cannot think of a coin I've ever beheld in person that made a more powerful impression on me than that one.
I recall cruising through the bourse at Baltimore going up and down the aisles when I stopped dead in my tracks at a presentation case full of DCAM Barber halves... I think it might have been DLRCs table... no pictures, just a mental image of about 6 amazing examples...
Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
Saw this unique branch mint proof 1844-O $10 on display at a show in the late 1990's which would qualify to be among the most beautiful I have seen.
It went unsold at a Heritage auction in October 1999. Seem to recall there was a minimum bid of $400,000 at the time. Guess it would have been a good deal. PCGS Coinfacts shows a value of $4.5 Million now as PCGS PR65DCAM.

I think Barber halves are just about the best looking silver proofs around. I don't see too many unattractive ones.

Sold recently but still has that other worldly toning! Lots of beautiful toners in this thread!
This is the most beautiful rainbow toned Flying Eagle Cent I've ever seen. You rarely see these toned nicely. I would love to know the grade, auction, date it sold, and final hammer if you know it.
Amazingly that Flying Eagle Cent (a few windows above) is only graded MS64. Best looking MS64 i've seen in a long time. Guide is 2150, but I bet it sold for much higher.
As long as we're talking about colorful Flying Eagles, let me add this 1856 PCGS PR66 CAC (not my coin). I consider this the most beautiful Flying Eagle I have come across and an 1856 to boot. This coin sold for $70,500 at Legend's Regency 34 in Sept 2019 (RIP LRCA).
I still miss this one ....... but also enjoy being debt free!
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.
If you wanted one look on all your 20th century type coins this would be it. Used to be owned by a good friend of mine, and it's the most attractive Roosevelt Dime in existence (MS68+).

It's always important to remember that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." I have no problem with you loving this coin, but it's not accurate to assume the everyone else loves this coin.

What's not to love about this coin? It's a MS68+ Top Pop 4/0 that exhibits some of the most spectacular toning on any Roosevelt Dime. I understand where you are coming from on "Beauty is the eye in the beholder" but in this case this is the type of coin that is universally seen as amazing.

These are in my collection and are quite pedestrian (even though I find them to be beautiful to my eyes):
Here’s a few non-proof coins with really exceptional eye appeal!
Low mintage, strong strike, and good lighting
The reverse
My favorite, but I do prefer the no stars variety.
that's the huge thumbprint cloud variety
Not my coin:
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
Not my coin (65+), but love the glow and color, despite a few hits:
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
In terms of mid 19th century design, this is a tough act to follow
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Not mine, but I love this design with color:
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
Not mine.
.
I know some have already been posted, but it is in my opinion the most beautiful coin ever minted.

Should have kept the old one!
