Interesting, the Bills have opened as a 2.5 point favorite in this game.

    Most Dangerous Playoff Teams
Bills Open as Slight Favorites vs. Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes in AFC Divisional Round

The Buffalo Bills are looking to slay the dragon when the Kansas City Chiefs come to town in Sunday's Divisional Round Showdown.

After knocking off the plucky Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, the Buffalo Bills are now set to renew what's currently the AFC's strongest non-divisional rivalry when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round on Sunday.

The Bills have won three of the last five games against the Chiefs, but both of those losses came in the playoffs. The 2020 AFC Championship Game was a decisive win for Kansas City, while the 2021 Divisional Round game was an instant classic that the Chiefs won in overtime. Buffalo won the most-recent matchup, though, defeating Kansas City 20-17 on the road on Dec. 10.

Despite the Chiefs being their boogeymen in the playoffs, oddsmakers like the Bills chances to shed their demons as they opened as 2.5-point favorites.

This game is very different from all the other ones, though. While the past five games have all been in Kansas City due to seeding and NFL scheduling quirks, Buffalo will get home-field advantage this time. While the Bills are obviously thrilled to finally get a home game in this matchup, what may be more significant is what it means for the Chiefs.

As has been widely publicized, this marks the first true road playoff game that Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes will play in his six years as a starter, not counting when he played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Super Bowl 55. Additionally, this marks the first time the Chiefs have played in Buffalo since 2020 and first with a crowd since 2014, long before Mahomes or Bills quarterback Josh Allen were in the league.

With this being the third playoff game in four years between these rivals, expect Bills Mafia to bring everything it has on Sunday evening.

Still waiting to see who will be available for the game. Defense had 3rd string linebackers, 3rd string nickle and 3rd string cornerbacks by the end last night. Elam had been a healthy scratch most of the season, got toasted near the goal line and then came up with a TD saving interception to make up for it. Next man up.

@GroceryRackPack the real question is will Taylor make the road trip with your guys in red?

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yes, I predict Taylor Swift will be at the Bills game, supporting her man, she braved the cold weather at the Chiefs game and even checked in on Kelce in the second quarter.

    KC

better defense, and that was before all of the Bills' injuries. i also liked what i saw out of the Chiefs' offense against Miami..........Patty M may have finally found a dependable receiver not named Kelce who is stepping up at just the right time (Rice)

i think we'll be seeing another picture of grorakpak's hand, his flannel shirt, and his box of Mahomes cereal after the game on Sunday

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

What we will see is two of the toughest competitors at the QB position unlike a certain Dallas QB.
If the Bills win then I’ll be cheering for them to win the SB.

I almost bought a case of that cereal when it first came out but didn’t.
Now I wish I had some to eat before the game for good luck. 😂

No offense bud but I prefer Buffalo to win.

I believe the certain Dallas quarterback you're referring to is one Dak Prescott, who after stinking it up against the Packers has left the sport of American football and become a used car salesman, Prescott Chevrolet, calls himself Larry now!

I just hope the Bills are healthy enough and don’t want to hear any excuses win or lose. It’s the NFL and it’s next man up.
Whoever wins I guarantee it will be the most watched game this year besides the Super Bowl.

This is fascinating, Allen and the Bills lead the head to head series, but Mahomes and the Chiefs have won both playoff games, so the Chiefs are the Bills boogeyman in the playoffs. We'll see if that trend continues this weekend!

All 6 games have been in Kansas City. Buffalo has visited there 3 straight years in a row. Talk about a scheduling advantage.

Going with the Chiefs. Only because of the Buffalo injuries coupled with their short week before game time.
Weather is supposed to be partly cloudy and around 20° with no precipitation in the forecast.

Tough game to call. I'll go with the Chiefs because I'd like to see Buffalo win a Super Bowl. The team I root for seems to lose a lot more than they win.

    Pulling for the Bills here.

Mahomes actually has a slightly better career winning percentage in road games, as well as slightly better passing stats on the road in his career. Also, Mahomes has only been an underdog 10 times in his career, and is 8-1-1 ATS in those games.

If anything, I'm adjusting the point spread and betting an alternate line of KC -2.5 at +145, or thinking perhaps even really stretching it out and taking KC -5.5 at +240.

    Interesting

I keep thinking I like Buffalo, I mean KC has Mahomes but they ran over a depleted Miami D, but then again Buffalo ran over a Pittsburgh D without Watt.

I think this game is going to be so good I don't want to spoil it by betting on it, I think I'm genuinely going to just enjoy it.

There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. If we wish to make it louder we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer we will tune it to a whisper. If we wish to switch the Chiefs-Bills game to peacock you cannot stop us. During the game we will control all that you see and hear.

my gut tells me that whichever team wins will be the AFC representative in the big one

i'm just not sold on the Ravens, and i think the Texans will give them a game

so since i'm picking KC against Buffalo, that means i'm picking Mahomes to be in yet another SB

The Chiefs need a consistent pass rush, continued good play from the secondary, and to contain Allen when he takes off running. Our best linebacker Nick Bolton will be instrumental in whether Allen has success running imo.

It’s time for something new in the AFC. Im not sure Lamar and the Raven rise to the occasion. I’m actually leaning Houston outright Saturday. Even if Baltimore does win Buffalo will beat them in Baltimore. Lamar 1-3 in the playoffs and Josh Allen 6-0 against everyone not named KC and Cincinnati.
Mafia will be insane Sunday, Chiefs will all their motion on a silent count in the playoffs for the first time. Bills take care of business and move on to the Championship game.

Theyre much better off getting there even if they lose. It gets them over the hump theyve been stuck on for a while and theres really no difference in draft spots at this point

Eh I'm talking from a fan standpoint

If the Pats didn't win the Super Bowl I would have been happier if they didn't make it, rather than deal with the crushing defeat in the big game.

Draft position is irrelevant at that stage
