How many numismatic items did you purchase in 2023?
![golden](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/authoricons/1849DEagle.gif)
This year I purchased 12 numismatic items. Ten coins, one piece of paper money and one book. That is about half of what I purchased in 2022. Since my want list keeps getting smaller, I will probably purchase even less in 2024.

Six, plus a thing I paid for in December didn't show up until January, plus I kept one coin out of a collection I helped a friend sell. So, eight new things -- by a wide margin my biggest year since 2014. 2024 will likely be slower.
Normally I pick up 6-8 coins per year but this year I purchased mainly raw coins I need to get graded so it was easier finding coins (cheaper as well in most cases). I got about 17 raw coins in 2023 and about my normal 6-8 for coins already certified. Same goal for 2024 buy raw coins and have them graded and try to pick up a few already in holders (PCGS or NGC).

Too many but not enough.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Spreadsheet says 33. 13 are sold already, mostly instantly, but a few took a while. 7 more of those are still for sale, and the remaining 13 are currently in my private collection and not for sale. Good year!

This year I added an 1838 Reeded Edge Half to complete a 6 piece 19th century Bust Half set. My other additions were all Seated Quarters from, 1842, 1844, 1845, 1860, 1860_O, 1862_S, 1891-S.
Log book says 39.
18 coins and 5 books.
Tonedeaf is a nickname given to me in reference to my guitar playing ability.
A few, 3 circulated commemorative halves, 2 Peace Dollars, 3 Morgans, a few offerings from the mint and quite a few new additions to my elongated cents collection. I also picked up some world wide play money manufactured by Topps Gum Company (the baseball card company). It is very interesting and a bit scarce but not overly expensive since most people don't recognize it for what it is.
I'm retiring after the first of the year and then my buying will slow down considerably.
Happy New Year!!
Two bulk lots where I mostly wanted one coin from each. Otherwise, nine coins.
Well I love many of Dan Carrs coins so I purchased a .999 gold confederate $20 gold piece. Also just ordered an 1886-0 trade dollar and 1793 flowing hair dollar from him. Also purchased a 1793 Cain cent in an Ana's fair-2 holder, several $5 indian gold pieces and $10 indian gold pieces as these are my favorite American coin designs.
Chain cent
A few dozen; fewer than in 2022, more than I expect to buy in 2024. I'm tapering down from upgrading, in favor of a very few special coins.
A lot more than I thought I would. Started collecting CBHs and that rabbit hole sucked me in. Picked up 27 of them in the last 3 months.

So not much. Lol!

I filled 7 empty slots in my $2.50 set with 1 New Orleans, 1 Dahlonega, 2 Charlotte and 3 Philadelphia issues. In addition i upgraded 6 coins in that set. From now on filling empty slots gets much more difficult.

I just went and counted all of the eBay purchases I made in 2023 and there were 129 separate auctions I won that were either coins, tokens, vintage coin albums, Numismatic Books, Numismatic Magazines and coin supplies. I also purchased more coins, tokens, numismatic literature and vintage coin albums from other places too not on eBay.
The majority of the purchases were for vintage coin albums, once I got to reading David Lange’s book on Wayte Raymond albums I ended up seeking out all the boards and album covers/binders I didn’t already have. Then I accidentally stumbled on a source of the “leftovers” of David Lange’s personal vintage Wayte Raymond and related albums collection and really went overboard getting more that I didn’t already have, including some really rare early ones that looked like junk if you didn’t know what they were.
The rare ones from David’s collection that looked like junk were overlooked when the people who were given the first “dibs” on his personal collection picked through them and the ones I ended up with were just thrown into some bins. They ended up being put up for sale one at a time for cheap on eBay by a guy who lived in David Lange’s neighborhood through an arrangement made by people who were close to Dave. I haven’t even had a chance to photograph most of them. I only know the background of them as coming from David Lange’s personal collection because I became the eBay sellers best customer and he started phoning me offering me some more directly. He told me how he ended up with them to sell. I’m going to end up making a digital museum out of them and most likely will end up donating at least some of them to the ANA or something like that. It is going to give me something to do when I retire in a couple of years.
Here’s a few examples, some from DL’s collection but mostly other sources:

One. First coin I bought in 7 years. An 1883 With Cent Nickel in PC 6. Nicest I've seen in awhile. May sticker if I send it in. Not in a great hurry to do so.

If the alleged economic downturn appears this year may seek out a nice Peace dollar. Always have an eye out for a eye pleasing 55/55 cent.
About 60 coins for me. 2023 was the first time in 14 years where my finances improved to the point where I had the budget for coins again, so I had some catching up to do. My personal highlight was the completion of my 1942 proof set, all in PCGS holders. I also purchased a Mercury Dime album.
A whopping 6, would be 7, but the post office kept it, pricks.
1 Coin. It's getting almost impossible to find any of the few missing coins for my sets anymore.
I've resorted to accumulating US and foreign currency because I'm bored.
I never heard anyone ever say I have to many coins 🪙. I got 4 last year 1 being a 1828 12 star, fwiw
Too many.
