"Tarnish" Lovers - sometimes color is primary over strike and/or wear (1930 SLQ)

Had to make a shout out reference for ricko who we all miss dearly. This thread is dedicated to those collectors who like attractive color on some of their coins. This SLQ date is very common yet it has, to me, incredible eye appeal.
What coin in your collection did you acquire that you decided that the color was primary in your consideration whether to buy the coin?

Pretty quarter! For some reason, few Standing Liberty quarters have nice toning. Thanks for posting it!

Like ricko, no tarnish for me. I must say though, that some of those dimes have some beautiful color.
Strike and condition is most important to me and no tarnish whenever possible.
Collect what you like and above all enjoy it.

These 3 were because of their color, nothing special otherwise. I find it crazy that all 3 of these exist one year apart from each other made of the exact same material.

What great timing for this thread to be here, just scooped up this bechtler $1 yesterday. For me, the color on a coin like this supersedes the grade, and oftentimes they are priced accordingly.

For me, just a bit of color peeking through the crust thanks!
I don't collect unc coinage anymore... don't care for fancy coins that never did a day of work 😂
(I suppose an exception would be 18th century 8 reales... always blows my mind that there are any of these still around in mint state... that and unc chopmarked trades. How does that happen???)
I still have this charming little lady in the set though...
Really too much color for a VF imo, but... since it's a 17/3 🤗

This is my only Morgan, I only like it because of how grimy and original is.
Here is another SLQ where color overshadows the grade...
I do this all of the time...for example when collecting Buffalo nickels which have a tendency (depending on which mint was making the coin) to have weak strikes. I'd take a toned piece over a great strike most if not all of the time. It's my achilles heel so to speak. I have to have the color or it's a no go. Just the opposite from Mr. Ricko but I always agreed with him: You should always collect what you like.

Lovely coins. Color and eye appeal at times do trump technical grades. Here are some Franklins that have great color and eye appeal.
Sorry, I'm with the late, great Ricko--blast white for me. I can appreciate a slight patina (e.g., 80 year old uncirculated nickels), and I can even enjoy a delicate rainbow on a silver dollar. But when it becomes tarnish, I don't like it.
YMMV
Beautiful Standing Liberty Quarter @Catbert !
I over reached on this half, but have no regrets!

Colorful SLQs you say?
Sometimes subtle colors work well too.

GC images so not the best. But I stretched a little bit on this colorful walker for my short set. Absolutely a beauty in hand.

Would you say the centers of your coin have white toning? The following has this white toning and I believe it's quite rare for a coin to have toned white.
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Paid up for this one. Arrived this week:
I specifically wanted this one because of the Toning:

This one I just wanted for the grade, but the toning was definitely a plus:

I have other coins that I like with Toning, but those two Morgans above were mainly purchased for the Toning and or grade.

Pretty coin Cat. I love SLQ's with color. Please find me a great 1921!
Color was the only reason I purchased my one and only Jefferson nick.
Which reminds me of @ColonelJessup. @MrEureka?

Beautiful coins in this thread, wonderful!
Blast white for Ricko.

The question needs to be reversed for me. If I have a coin that isn't toned, then the question needs to be what made it special enough that I bought it? Not everything I buy is a monster, but color always matters as far as what I find attractive and what look I'm going for when I buy something. Here are two favorites from series less often seen with color:
My most recent SLQ pickup. Definitely tarnished.

most commems don't interest me too much unless they have some attractive tarnish (miss you, Ricko!)
(has a lot of nice aqua/rose that doesn't show up so well in the photos)
I also seem to enjoy toned memorial cents. While they aren’t as popular as wheats, they are gaining traction as those who complete wheat registries want to continue on with Lincoln cents.
Needed an SBA for my 20th century type set, so I found one with some color since I don’t collect this type at all.
This SLQ didn't have a full head but for some strange reason I didn't care...

I loved toned coins although weak strikes do bother me. I’d rather have both! This is the weakest struck Morgan I own (although it’s not that bad) but it’s also the nicest toned 90-O I’ve ever seen.
