On it's way.
Well, the quest continues into October and my latest pickup gets me to “almost” halfway done. The reason I say “almost” because there are 23 cards but just 22 subjects in this set; Hank Aaron has two cards that are distinguished by either the name being in White or Yellow. I have found most of the cards in a raw state and sent them to Newport Beach myself. Now, the grading of hand cut cards has always posed a challenge for all of the TPGs and this set is no exception, perhaps even being the best example. However, I’m not the type of collector who is beholden to assigned grades when it comes to collecting - a beautiful card is a beautiful card regardless of the numeric grade assigned, for my money. Grading, a very valuable service, covers the technical condition of a card more than the eye appeal, of late anyway, so you really have to be an educated consumer now more than ever. Its the collector who still has to decide which cards are worthy additions for themselves. So, I decided that this card makes the cut for my set and perhaps one of the best things about this pickup is it came to me in the most old school fashion - via trade.

One I need for the master set:
and three I needed for the auto set:
Nice. Figured a collector of your caliber already had one of these.
Some more tickets I just got back a few days ago. About the Agassi Wimbledon ticket, I have never seen another full one before. Only the stubs.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ignore list -Basebal21
I'm not a ticket collector, though I have saved my tickets/stubs from many concerts & sporting events.
How do you collectors feel about tickets now being almost entirely digital? Seems like a sudden end of an era.
These were all September purchases but October scans
Nice tickets. I like that you collect a players final game as opposed to their debut. I only have a handful of tickets, but one is Cam Neely's final game.
It probably makes the old physical tickets more collectible.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Cam Neely signed a well known racist and bully to a contract.
Anyone who supports Cam Neely supports a guy who signed a well known white bully of a black classmate whose mom says he still suffers today.

Cam Neely can’t even control all the racism in and around Boston.
Surprised anyone supports that team.
Yeah right Cam. Years later all you did was SIGN a racist hockey player.
Now that’s a card. Well done sir.
Some recent card shop pick ups.
While I usually prefer scans of items, some just don’t fit on the scanner bed. So, you snap a photo instead…
1968 Topps Posters #18 Mickey Mantle
…and a group shot, while I’m at it.

@1951WheatiesPremium great pickup and the group shot is awesome. That 1968 Mantle poster is one I've always loved.
I've been looking for this ticket for the last 6-7 years and one finally popped up last week on eBay. As a Pirates fan I'm super excited to add this to my Pirates ticket collection. Willie Stargell's last career home run (475) and it was a game winner in the Bucs 3-2 win over the Reds in Cincinnati. The S on the ticket means that it was a Season Ticket.
Added a nice pair
2004 spx
1989 topps psa 10
1959 phillies
Phillies of the 70's
Thanks for the response. That was fun!
First year for Chrome cards was in 1996, Here is Jr's debut.
And this rookie card... he had some great years with the Yankees and Blue Jays.

Steve…
Nice 1975 Ryan mini…congrats! Beautifully centered…
The 2009 ITG set had 2 signed Derek Sanderson cards included. After a few years of looking, I posted that I finally got the 1st one in the September thread.
Well, lo and behold, the 2nd one popped up last week from the very same seller! Very, very happy to have them both!!!
After collecting for approx 37 years, I still get excited when I find a card that I need for my sets!
Here are some random oddballs from auction lots I picked up.
1913 T230 Pan Handle Scrap World's Champion Athletes Louis Scott
Set depicts 1912 Olympians. Scott was a Team USA Gold medal runner.
Seems authentic. Only 1 has been graded by PSA in a 5.
1963 Topps Peel Offs Harmon Killebrew Blank Back
Seems to be scarcer than the Instruction Back
There are 3 listings for this card on PSA POP Report
Does the first listing include both backs before they made the distinction between the two? Not sure.
1974 Nabisco Sugar Daddy Connie Hawkins
1947 Bond Bread square corner
After learning more about these cards, it seems the square corner cards are no 1947, but possibly 1949 or a much later find in 1980.
Based on the color of the card stock, it's more likely these are from 1949 release. Not 100% sure though.
And they were mixed in with a bunch of 1950s Bowman cards, so maybe.
1970 Topps Booklet Pete Rose
One mow for the Killebrew run.

Never seen a flip with a letter "missing" before...
If the "dust removal" setting is used on some scanners, random letters or numbers can be removed. It's annoying considering how helpful the setting can be.
Great Kllabrew!
The letter is not removed on the flip. It was the scan btw.

2 Os in the mailbox yesterday.
Thought I’d share some recent returns. I love multi signed cards.
Love those multis!
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
Not in hand yet, but picked up this guy today to get my missing NFL rookie HoF set list down to just 3 cards.
Added a mid grade but centered OPC Munson.
These came home in September but I forgot to post them in the monthly pickups thread. I think they’re very pretty cards and I’m happy that they are home. So here they are, one month late.

Nice card, and yes, I recommend to uncheck the dust removal option. It will, as you saw, remove detail. Even a light setting will be harmful to the scan.

Ok thanks. One more question. What causes the scan to have a blue light?
I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/
That card has the inner slab sleeve on it. It prevents the card from shifting around in the slab, so that is nice, but any curves or waviness in the sleeve will show up this way on the scans. Typically it is only in the 2 areas you see here. I haven’t found a way to scan without this issue.

Man, I love the 57 set.
Nice ones there for sure.
Wow that ‘57 Kaline is a beauty. Could easily be an 8. Great buy!
Actually the kaline was my own sub! Yes, to me it seems should have been a 7.5 at least.
Not a huge wrestling collector, but I think the Undertaker is on the Mount Rushmore of wrestling and I wanted a nice auto card in the collection.
